Know Your Swastikas!
Holy Christmas, people, I know the swastika is tilted at a 45-degree angle. You can stop reminding me of this now. I made this in MSPaint, where I couldn't rotate it like that. Stop bitching.

Nice try, but you messed up your facts on this one. The Swastika and its permutations have been used by many cultures in the past millenia to mean luck, fortune, strength, power, etc. It meant the same thing to Hitler.

Ah, I see what you were trying to say. I didn't realize that some people were trying to distinguish the ancient meaning of good luck from the baleful Nazi symbol.

Yeah, the point I was getting across was that the two symbols are confused in certain YTMND's. And I did know it stood for good fortune in times past, but since WW2 it's been changed, and east asian religions adopted the right-hand symbol.

btw, i'll be updating my YTMND loop project with a much better loop of Heut' Ist Mein Tag very soon, so you might want to use that instead.

Actually, the Nazi swastika is rotated 45 degrees from that, so its center is an "X" rather than a plus sign.

OMG secret nazi accuracy!!

This is technically inacurate, the swastika (the one with the "L" ) is NOT in fact a german invention, it is also hindu. The Nazis, Like most all racist, had no creativity.

I was just about to say that, Sticky. Good call.

Swastikas face either direction and can still be called swastikas. Only the one that hooks right is associated with Nazi Germany, but yeah. They have different names because cultures all over the world have comparable shapes.

But more importantly, this isn't funny.

I know, Sticky, but if I could do that in Paint, I would :) And also, Inkdrinker, it wasn't my intent for this to be funny, but informative.

the swastika is a christian symbol... i learned this in confirmation, so i'm pretty sure it's accurate(someone else says it's a hindu symbol, and now i'm not sure). it makes sense that it's a christian symbol, seeing hitler's and the nazis' hatred for jews. but thanks for clearing it up; i always tried to remember if the lines were going clockwise or something... this is easier.

Schuma, that is ridiculous. Hitler believed only a man's concience should be his guide. And this 5 is for 1: Info and 2: Recovering lost ground from INKDRINKER

Angle means nothing; the 45 degree angle was used for most, but the banners had the 90 degree one with the upper L. Both instances were once indistinguishable as they were signs of luck, power, good fortune, etc to many ancient civilizations. Correct on Hitler stealing the left-facing one for that very purpose. He was very much into the occult and there are some really WEIRD things done for the sake of the Reich.

What's the name of the other symbol? That should be included.
