Space, the problem with that system is that 1's hurt a site more than people think. If you want a rating to be lower but still think the site is decent, vote only one star lower.

I don't have much desire to see a site of moderate quality keep a modorate rating, I and most other people would either like it to go higher or lower, who wants to make their vote only matter a little?

If everyone voted what they really thought of the site, then the average would actually mean something. For an example of how to vote, just look at max. He gives good sites 4's and reserves 5's for only the best.

Binary just implies two possibilities, options, or components. Binary math and counting is presented as 0 and 1 because those are the first two numerals in our normal base-10 system.
