Retarded Christians: The dinosaurs lived 65 MILLION years ago during the cretaceous. The flooding of this age happened in slow, gradual, sequences -- humans weren't even alive (our ancient mammalia rat ancestors flourished in this era though).
Humans are only about 250,000 years old -- dumbasses. Please go seek an education immediately, thanks.
HybridX: The Bible also says were all going to hell for anyone of these unpardonable sins: having a period outside of a forest, wearing clothing made of blended fibers, and crop rotation. The world would be a better place if we all started taking religious texts as the (admittedly great) pieces of literature that they are, written by people who understood what metaphor and symbolism are, and not have them taken as literal law by those who don't.
Assuming that the Earth is 4.6 billion years old, how could life have started due to Abiogenesis? If there was oxygen in the atmosphere, the life attempting to form would have just died due to oxidization, as Stanley L. Miller and Harold C. Urey expirimented with.
To overcome the oxidization problem, people say that there was no oxygen present when abiogenesis was being performed. Without oxygen, there is no ozone layer to protect the Earth from harmful UV rays, which destroy the potential organism.
Clutch: The rate of Earth's slowing is MUCH less than you describe. Your argument assumes that the rate of slowing has been constant, and has been eternally connected with the improperly assigned times of atomic clocks. Earth has slowed down an average of around 2 seconds every 100,000 years, not a second a year. In fact, a HUNDRED million years ago, the planet only rotated less than 4 hours slower. That may mean a wider earth, but not 500 mile per hour coriolis winds.
As well, applying the 2nd law of thermodynamics as an argument against natural selection is like saying that because I can run full speed against another person and only bruise him, I can run full speed WITH a car at him, and get the same result. Two different systems are involved. Thermodynamics and natural selection, though at some level linked by being in the same physical world, have many theorems that do not apply to each other.
We are also not an end result of evolution, i.e. we are not "better" because of evolution, or more perfect. We are adapted to our changing environment, and it is only the vanity of humans (a sin, I might add) that assumes that we are the end pinnacle of creation. Finally, your argument against abiogenesis misreads the conclusions of the Miller/Urey experiment, assumes Earth's atmosphere has been constant, that water doesn't have an diminishing effect on the sun's rays, regardless of ozone in the air.
I find it much more plausible that the scientific evidence about the world prior to 5000 years ago means that the world EXISTED more than 5000 years ago. As opposed to a world that God would create with general physical evidence that the world was created around 5 or 6 billion years ago...just to fool people who follow logical scientific method? Just to make anyone with an education and an open mind look bad? Are you kidding me? God created the universe, yes, but not just to test man's belief in him.
People who go to college are less likely to believe in one set idea of god. With the increase in the amount of educated people in the world, the ideas of moral relativism, and the secularism being spread around the world, I think that within the next 100 to 200 years religion will be dead in most country civilized cultures. That or Jesus will come and kick our *ss before that... it could happen
