This is actually pretty ambient. One suggestion is that you maintain a constant image in between the flashes of lightning just to keep the viewer's attention.

I would 5 this, but it'd've been easy to make a flicker for each photo used to create a more realistic effect. Very nice concept, but it could be done much better.
