Scientists Pwnd!
Ive talked to friends about this and Ive always thought that if the Sea ice caps melted the water level wouldnt rise. Sorry I wasnt able to find anything better than fricking Unsolved Mysteries - Theme for the music

except that sea levels have been observed rising for thousands of years starting with the end of the ice age. anthropology ftw

I'm not sure of your science, but I am sure of your 5.

Uh, isn't there a sh*tton of ice on land? Also when a glacier is in the water doesn't 11% or so sit above water? When it melts it would all be in the water.

If demonstrating to the USA how we're screwing ourselves to be nice to Canada doesn't motivate people to be a bit more environmentally concerned, nothing will. Not perfect on your science obviously but still a thousand times better than 99% of the other absolute crap being submitted. 5.

jm8881, you don't understand the displacement. The reason ice floats is because it's less dense. If you made the ice in the shape of a boat, it would still displace the same amount of water. But here's an experiment for you. Get equal amounts of water. Turn one into an ice cube and leave the other as water (beware of evil evaporation!) Now, in separate graduated cylinders, introduce the ice and the water. Does the water level go up the same in both? But yes, much of the world's ice is on land, like

in antarctica and in greenland and northern parts of Canada and asian. But another thing to consider is, if the world heats up then the AIR will be able to hold more water, too. This would also result in more rain and thus, more fresh water. One last thing, most of you probably don't know, but the earth has natural cycles of hot and cold. That's why we get ice ages. Besides, if we do start to suffer from global warming, we could always trigger the US to trigger a nuclear winter. We've all seen how

I didn't realise you were a geologist. Instead of thinking about it as some idle thought, research it with valid articles published by scientists in all outlets of the media. Or maybe goto school and do studies to figure it out instead of compairing the dynamics of a planet with a glass of water.

Not all ice is not in the water, so how can it displace ice? See glaciers, see ice on land, or just see someone who isn't retarded so they can educate you on whats funny.
