It's actually very deep and interesting, you must not have been paying attention. It was not action packed or loaded with dramatic love scenes, it was very atypical compared to the pre-fab movies that have characterized what hollywood is producing.

no, the plot makes sense, it's just not all handed to you. i just saw it for the first time today, and i agree that there are some parts that aren't explained in the movie, but you can figure them out if you think about it.
