No, science is not like God.
Science is constantly questioned, we don't swallow it because some priest sodomised us with a candle when we were young. We don't kill people because a book tells us to. Genital mutilation is not a work of science. Science doesn't burn books or keep people from knowledge. Science is orthogonal to religion and everyone but ID nuts understand that.
Just because the energy-out-of-nothing hypothesis doesn't have substantial evidence, it doesn't mean your hypothesis about '1' smart entity called god creating the earth in six days is true. I can pull out a million other explanations out of my -ass and they're AS equally probable. Why? Mine + yours ALL lack evidence. Come back when you can bring solid proof and evidence!

Then I put the two creation stories in the order that mainstream biblical scholarship think they were made up.

I find this fad very enjoyable. But not one of these fads has explained to me why my daddy abused me last night? Was it simply the CH3OH (alcohol) that reacted with his brain cells that somehow moved to the nucleus of his DNA and ultimately sent electrical signals to his other nerves causing a chain reaction and ultimately performing the act of "abuse"? Or is he just a slob who disrepects his wife, is bitter at the world, and is missing a little love/care in his heart? You decide.
Ok, First off, why does christrianity seem to piss everyone here off? Yes, I believe that the whole "Exploits of nothing" YTMND Peterguy made was very arrogant and self rightious, but how is this any different? Yes, what Peterguy did was wrong, he tried to shove his beliefs on everyone,but don't you realise that you are doing the same thing by insulting all those who believe something that contradicts what you believe? I am I a catholic and believe that Genesis was written as metaphor,not scientific fact.
Fabjan, why does religion insult you so much? If you don't believe in religion that's just fine, but why do you feel it necessary to insult and demean everyone who disagrees with you? It's not like someone else beleiving in God hurts you. Yoou're a rligious bigot, and you areno better than a racist or an anti-semite.
huhm, actually, it would be innaccurate to say that that specific sixteen percent is the only percent of the world that has an understanding of technology. Quite frankly, I'm caught between being to apathetic and too lethargic to cite any sources, but I prefer the force of "Reason." Just think about the odds of only sixteen percent of the world having the mental capacity for understanding technology. Well, I'd say obviously that sixteen percent would be the japanese, who design many a crap load of stuff.

Just blatently calling those who have personal religious convictions 'morons' and such is very intolerant and disrespectful. If someone says 'I believe in God' you jump all over then yelling 'STOP CRAMMING YOUR PROPAGANDA DOWN MY THROAT'... Makes a lot of sense.
