"sounds suspicious to me, beary suspicious indeed but i hope its true" Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Borlaug, provided no one vandalised it or grossly changed information.

You gotta love the new type of rice crop to curb starvation, grows quickly but has low nutritional value.. (nothing do with this guy, but still how does that crop help anyone?)

Or maybe we fat f*cks over here in the rich west shouldn't eat as much, and shouldn't encourage so many cash crops. But maybe these options are a little too unlikely to even mention. Goddamn political propaganda.

Cyano, I'm sure it helps whoever created it to make more money. But, it would be valuable for people who want to eat and not get fat.

They would still get fat from eating the rice because its just carbohydrate:(

But if you look at it like: "I'm going to eat until I'm stuffed" and the less nutritious on has like half the potential energy, then, it may help them not get so fat so fast. Take me for example, I feel a compulsive need to eat. Gum helped, but aspartame gives head cancer (I hear). So the rice could help.

Not that anyone else is going to read this thread, lol, but try reading up on Malthusian views (the view that, basically, population grows faster than food supply) and those who disagree with the view. When I learned about other views to the Malthusian...view lol, I was totally converted. I mean, the single fact that many (if not most) countries that have a lot of starvation don't even grow food, they grow stuff like coffee or cocoa (or coca loL).
