For the purpose of making words sound right and flow smoothly in a sentence, you should note that preceding a word that begins with a vowel sound with an "a" is improper. For example, I'll make the statement: I was raped by a alien. See that, doesn't sound right; so let's try that again. I was raped by an alien while walking through the park last night. Now that sounds perfect, I even made it more complete! Remember this when also saying things like "an hour", or "an egg", for future reference. Thank you.
