Islam conquered and ruined the middle east. Once, they were the seat of intellectual prosperity in the world and many great people and great cities were there. Now they're full of ruins, slums and willful ignorance and the only thing their people can produce that the world has any use for anymore is oil. It's not the West they need to free themselves from, it's Islam. Maybe then nations like Egypt can return to their former glory.
