Dropping the federal reserve rate for short term gain was irresponsible and took away a vital tool for America to fight it's current recession. I wouldn't rest on the laurels of the short term gain under Bush also because we are all now seeing the fruition of the cancer that was hidden inside of it. Most of debt now by the way was snow balled from Bush's irresponsible tax cuts for the rich and spending. It will take time for a responsible leader to turn us around from debt death spiral.

You are correct, Clinton DID balance the budget, with a republican house and senate. Rush helped out the most at that point being the speaker of the house. And the reason that government grew under Bush is because of Nancy Pelosi and the fact the the dem's controlled the house... Got any more "facts" that I can disprove?

The Imperial Presidency that we have now dictates that the executive sets the budget.
