re: monochrome - it's a subtle progression, but I did make Z less saturated in the distance and more saturated as he draws near. I tried full monochrome/duo-tone but it didn't look right.

Hey, that tune -- I recognize it from an old Amiga mod from 1995 called Extremia by Daxx (Chris Crusher). Wonder if he had a hand in this version.
