I liked the Black Album (although not nearly as much as their first four albums), but the ones they came out with after that pretty much sucked (with the exception of Death Magnetic, which was merely OK).

the black album was their move away from 'metal' to 'alternative' - back when that word meant something, and to fans at the time, it was them blatantly selling out - again, back when selling out meant something.
