Dear Max,
We hope this note finds you well. Your Webby Awards entry YTMND.com in the Viral category, has moved on to the next round of Webby judging. For this stage, in addition to the URL and entry information you've already provided, we now need a 2:00-3:00 minute, high-quality version of your entry, highlighting the segments or portions of your work that you feel best represent the overall piece.
Along with your original URL and entry information, this reel will compliment your entry throughout the next phases of the judging process. Should your entry eventually be honored, this clip may be:
* Used to showcase your achievement to Webby Voice Voters and the public at large at Webbyawards.com.
* Aired live at The Webby Film & Video Awards in New York City in June 2007.
* Used to promote your achievement in broadcast, traditional and other forms of media.
-------------
Your task, should you choose to complete it, is to create a 2-3 minute high res video that highlights why YTMND is so awesome. Due to me only being notified about this today, we have until Wednesday. Try to upload a copy somewhere and email me at max@ytmnd.com.
If you make the best video your work will possibly be broadcast at the webbys and you will also receive a free print of every shirt I ever sell in the future.
EDIT: This video obviously needs to be work safe, and the goal here is to highlight YTMND's good side, not a fad compilation that no one outside of the site would understand. The goal here is to make something that other people can "get".

We need a new section on the front page. A place where people can get off and on the Tubes. On and off, off and on! All day, all night! Soon, where YTMND once stood will be a string of poor fads! Page errors! Gimmick accounts! A horde of inside jokes, pictures of friends and foum rants! And wonderful, WONDERFUL pop-ups reaching as far as the eye can see...My god, It'll be beautiful.
And I am telling you
I'm not going.
You're the best man I'll ever know.
There's no way I can ever go,
No, no, no, no way,
No, no, no, no way I'm livin' without you.
I'm not livin' without you.
I don't want to be free.
I'm stayin',
I'm stayin',
And you, and you, you're gonna love me.
Ooh, you're gonna love me.
And I am telling you
I'm not going,
Even though the rough times are showing.
There's just no way,
There's no way.
We're part of the same place.
We're part of the same time.
We both share the same blood.
We both have the same mind.
And time and time we have so much to share,
No, no, no,
No, no, no,
I'm not wakin' up tomorrow mornin'
And findin' that there's nobody there.
Darling, there's no way,
No, no, no, no way I'm livin' without you.
I'm not livin' without you.
You see, there's just no way,
There's no way.
Tear down the mountains,
Yell, scream and shout.
You can say what you want,
I'm not walkin' out.
Stop all the rivers,
Push, strike, and kill.
I'm not gonna leave you,
There's no way I will.
And I am telling you
I'm not going.
You're the best man I'll ever know.
There's no way I can ever, ever go,
No, no, no, no way,
No, no, no, no way I'm livin' without you.
Oh, I'm not livin' without you,
I'm not livin' without you.
I don't wanna be free.
I'm stayin',
I'm stayin',
And you, and you,
You're gonna love me.
Oh, hey, you're gonna love me,
Yes, ah, ooh, ooh, love me,
Ooh, ooh, ooh, love me,
Love me,
Love me,
Love me,
Love me.
You're gonna love me.
Uh, I did't mention anything about loving YOU, I said YOU're gonna love MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Seriously, me and that song mean two free tinis at the gay karaoke bar tomorrow. I just DL'd the 'awesome' J.Holliday version and without ever hearing it before sung it pitch perfect. I guess that minor in theater had to pay off sometime.
Anyone who uses alts (other than comedy alts like pluto etc), or downvotes the U&C, or harasses people about ratings is officially gay. Seriously. Who gives a F*CK what your rating is? Make a site and let it roll. If it fails, it fails. If it wins, it wins. Whatever. If you "just want people to see hard work" or whatever, they will... eventually. Have some f*cking patience.
Atrahasis, I read that. I liked your Recently Created:Up and Coming::Sperm:Egg analogy. Anyway, of course there will be sh*tty sites made by users simply wanting to get attention. They don't survive however, because these news comments act as a sort of forum. Think of how there'd be even more chaos without these news posts and their comments. There other forms of communication of course, like private messages, instant messages, and ventrilo. I agree that both the search feature and the worthwhile section--
it seems the POLAND section only lets NOOOOOOOs between 500-99 on the list. That's NOT A GRAND COALITION, considering it allows so many KHAAAAAAAAN on while RUINING MY LAIFEs that probably deserve the [3500Hz, 3 sec] anyway. a MACFRY site of mine that was GREAT BRITAIN AUSTRALIA AND THE UNITED STATES had a OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAND POWER LEVEL and made it on there, just as an DENNIS BERGKAMP. It's been on there for TEN THOUSAND YEEEEEEEARS now. How is that WROOONG? --but seriously, I'm not sure how that should be fixed...maybe put back the old random section? Or user-adjustable rating/votecount ranges for the Worthwhile section (I'm sure some among us consider the 1-1.5 range the cream of the crop of YTMND...)?
thanks for the help PCF and BTape. That answers all my questions. I feel like a moron now since it took me 4 months to figure out Dr-L337 after it was revealed who "he" really was. I still don't know where I was during those days in November! Someone should edit the wiki page on Dr-L337 to include all the people who made it happen...or is there already a reason why there are no names listed (besides dantheman)? Some kind of secrecy that can only be viewed on one ytmnd site?
about a half hour ago, someone was lurking around my apartment building and they knocked on my door. I was scared sh*t and didn't answer the door because my forehead was bleeding because I had just popped a zit. by the time i got to the door, i heard the main door downstairs close. so i rushed to my kitchen window and looked out and saw a dark shadow moving towards the parking lot. so i ran to my living room window and i didn't see anything more, the shadow just vanished or something.
I still have my suspicions that 300 will end up like "sky captain" in the visuals vs. interest depeartment, but i'm open to being surprised. i just hope i dont walk out like all of these other douches I've seen today discussing whether Bush is Xerxes or Leonidas. f*ck off, I cant wait to hear their review about Spiderman 3's themes about Darfur and Wild Hogs as somehow an argument against universal healthcare. but I guess I shouldnt talk, since I still say that the Smurfs were Communists.

"There was a political message in 300? Because I'm sure there wasn't." - There are reasons why people think this way, besides the fact that anything involving war, whether its LOTR or Jarhead or Battlestar Galactica, is going to get framed the way people want it to be. there may be some intended overtones, but most of the time people dig way too deep to make it more apparent. Also, Frank Miller IS openly right wing, pro-Iraq war, pro-invasion of Iran. I've heard it from his own mouth. But that doesnt Automatically justify some of the things I've read the last couple of days. ANYWAYS, most of my frustration yesterday came from bumping into a specific uber-feminist (the kind that lost her sh*t over Sin City) I know who reads politically into absolutely everything, and it annoyed the sh*t out of me.
see and even here i overspoke, considering Frank Miller has made fun of Reagan viciously in the past as well. So um, yes, based on the NPR interview only that one could easily find, yes, on current military issues and regarding Iraq/Iran/Islam, he could be characterized as right wing. Because of this, obviously a war story with his name on it is going to have people read things into it that arent necessarily there.
In that case, Osmosis Jones is pro-Bush. you see, Jones (Bush), and Drix (Blair) must stop Thrax (terrorism) in order to save Frank (freedom). Jones is a go it alone cop who bypasses Mayor Phlegmming (the UN) to do what he feels is right. Just because the Farrelly Brothers didnt intend this doesnt mean there isnt a prophetic political message. See, intent IS important. if someone believes theres a message there, fine, but if one isnt intended people like my feminist friend are pretty annoying to go Around yelling "propaganda!"
so I saw 300 this afternoon. I'm now fully convinced it has no agenda. If you want to pull something from it you will, but you could only to a basic level and you could do it with both Leonidas and Xerxes. I thought maybe I'd come back and talk about how people also read into say, Million Dollar Baby, or Harry Potter, trying to find agendas that werent there, but its not necessary to argue that any more for me. I might be in the minority here, but I thought 300 for the most part blew. I expected only X amount of story, character development, and was really only looking for a cool and visual movie with lots of yelling and brutal violence. Theres some great visuals, a lot of yelling, but the violence specifically is a major major major letdown and causes the movie as a whole to become a bore. Even though the stylization is a selling point, it is so overly stylized that it completely robs all the violence of its intensity and brutality. That's what I wanted, and I didn't get it. Not a recommendation to avoid necessarily, however I didn't like it.
