This set is the perfect combination of defensive and offensive presence, making it a perfect Pokemon for balanced teams. Rotom-W has access to STAB Volt Switch, which allows it to assume the role of a defensive pivot against Pokemon like Mega Pinsir, Talonflame, and Azumarill. This means that even if the opponent has a Latias, Mega Venusaur, or another counter in the wings, Rotom-W can simply Volt Switch into another Pokemon that has a better match-up against said counter. Hydro Pump is useful for hitting the Ground-types that Rotom-W can usually switch into with ease, namely Hippowdon and Landorus-T. Neither of these Pokemon can take a Hydro Pump well, nor will they appreciate a burn courtesy of Will-O-Wisp. The threat of Will-O-Wisp can also force certain physical attackers to switch. This includes Bisharp, Garchomp, Azumarill, and many others.

The last move is dedicated to healing Rotom-W as best as it can. Pain Split is useful because it allows Rotom-W to also run Leftovers, gradually recovering its HP throughout the match. It also damages the opponent if they switch in something like Chansey or Mega Venusaur and Rotom-W is at mid or low health. However, Rest has its merits as well. If Rotom-W gets hit with a status move, Rest is useful for healing it. Rest also completely heals Rotom-W, while Pain Split is dependent on the opponent's health. However, Rest is unreliable, as it can only be used once with a Chesto Berry without putting Rotom-W to sleep. Thunder Wave can be used over Will-O-Wisp, but it is usually an inferior option, as common switch-ins to Rotom-W, such as Latias, Quagsire, Chansey, and Mega Venusaur, dislike burns more than paralysis.

This set makes use of Genesect's BoltBeam coverage to hit almost everything for at least neutral damage and many Pokemon super effectively. U-turn is great for scouting the opponent's team and is an option for when Genesect gets an Attack boost from Download. It also hits common Pokemon such as Tyranitar in sandstorm for more damage than Bug Buzz, which is still a viable alternative if you want a special STAB that is unaffected by Intimidate.

Blizzard is viable, especially in hail, as it really packs a punch and can deal major damage. A Focus Sash can secure a few surprise KOs, but Expert Belt and Life Orb are generally better. Expert Belt is the preferred choice for most teams as it helps Genesect get a number of significant KOs with no drawbacks. Genesect can also use a Life Orb to increase its damage output, but it means that Genesect is worn down much faster.

With access to one of the best abilities in the game in Magic Guard, Abra is immune to residual damage. This gives Abra potent revenge killing power as it can not be OHKOed under most circumstances while holding a Focus Sash. Magic Guard also prevents Life Orb recoil, making Abra one of the best Life Orb users in the metagame and a very powerful force when in the right hands. Combine all this with Fighting-types seeing use on almost every team, and Abra becomes a massive offensive threat that can 2HKO many threats. Unfortunately for Abra, its pitiful defenses means that almost anything can knock it out in one hit. This includes Sucker Punch, one of the most common priority moves in the metagame, as well as attacks from faster Pokemon such as Sand Rush Drilbur. By keeping Abra away from Dark-types and faster opponents, it will be free to smash the opposing team.

NU is a tier packed full of potential Stealth Rock users, many of whom share one of Golem's typings. However, there are many different reasons to choose Golem for a slot on your team. The best reason to choose Golem for your team is its dual Ground / Rock typing, which no other common Pokemon in NU shares. This allows it to take Flying-type moves with ease while also being immune to Electric-type attacks. It also gives Golem an additional STAB move to utilize, which Pokemon like Gigalith would love to have. Additionally, Golem is one of only a few Pokemon in the tier that is nearly guaranteed to set up Stealth Rock thanks to Sturdy, allowing Golem to live any one hit from full HP unless the opposing Pokemon has Mold Breaker. With these things in mind, Golem is usually better suited for more offensively oriented teams. Finally, while Golem may have exploitable Grass-, Water-, and Ground-type weaknesses and a low Special Defense stat, it is still a great Stealth Rock user that gets its job done well.

Magcargo is a Pokemon which has many crippling flaws that prevent it from shining in the limelight of the NU metagame. Due to its horrible typing, Magcargo not only has a Stealth Rock weakness, but it also sports 4x weaknesses to common Water and Ground-type moves, as well as a weakness to Fighting-type moves. To make matters worse, Magcargo has incredibly underwhelming Special Defense and HP, meaning that many powerful special attacks, such as Jynx's Focus Blast, will take it out after Stealth Rock. Despite these problems, Magcargo still makes a decent check to several important Pokemon in the NU metagame, including Swellow, Drifblim and Charizard, thanks to its key resistances to Normal-, Flying-, and Fire-type attacks. Magcargo also has a unique support movepool, including options such as Memento, Will-O-Wisp, and Stealth Rock, as well as a reliable recovery move. However, theses traits do not make Magcargo a good Pokemon and more often than not, other defensive Fire- and Rock-types, such as Torkoal and Regirock, will be better options for your team.

One of the greatest regrets in my life is repressing that memory. I don't remember anything about her, not even her name. I was 12, so was she. I met her at a friend's bar mitzvah and told her she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I asked if I could kiss her and the boys around us got excited by the notion of two girls making out and offered us money. So we kissed and we kissed, and the dollars rolled in, but all I wanted was to kiss her in earnest. She did too, so we tried to escape the attention, but no matter where we hid, we were always found. Everything after that is bleary, but I remember leaving that night with a strong sense of shame, which is probably why I repressed the memory in the first place. And now I'm here, sharing this on ytmnd. At least I know in my mind, I kissed the most beautiful girl.

It was nice to see the word "shazbot" finally recognized as an Official Offensive Term by the Bureau of Alcohol, Milkweed and Assault-Words though Ok this somehow went from asinine to "oh shit, they're gonna take it all when I die if I don't get that damn permit" real fast No biggies.
