I just want to make it clear that I recognize that the USA ranks far below than other countries in so many ways. In fact, I personally have brought these facts up to other people.<br /><br />If you are being serious about areas which I lack self criticism, I don't think I ever said I was an expert on anything, even within fields I have worked. That is not a message I try to convey. If I did come across that way, it was probably meant to be tongue in cheek.<br /><br />Are you suggesting that I act like an expert on something (outside my field) simply because I have opinions on things and also argued about them? Or is it something else? I am not comparing myself to Socrates, but I attempt to take his approach on a lot of things, whether or not I have a good understanding of that subject.<br /><br />If you think the photos you found of me are somehow displays of arrogance, I thought that the one you brought up with the one in that Grateful Dead drapery and that odd drink was meant to be goofy. BTW, I only dress like that once a year at Gathering of the Vibes. <br /><br />The one where I looked drunk out of my mind with some bearded guy was also meant to be goofy. The photo of me with wild hair at some concert was also meant to be silly to the point of frightening. I don't take my job too seriously. I just had a very hellish 2 weeks. I will be shocked if I am there more than 8 months from now. I also don't take any of the racing sports I do too seriously. In fact, I am taking a break from them.<br /><br />Also, yes, a lot of immature people do things like 'decrying everyone as wrong, "liberal," "crybaby," etc.' Not sure where I did this.<br /><br />For a serious discussion, I do everything possible to avoid that kind of behavior. If you are a left winger, you are tired of the conservatives associating you with them. no one wants to be a stereotype or thought of as one. everyone wants to be taken seriously, so when you are lumped in with this crowd, then that is much harder.<br /><br />i appreciate your views toward current ytmnd culture. you feel like it has become too middle of the road american. wheras before, you were implying that it was more of an intellectual/eclectic atmosphere. dude, the way you are endorsing that kind of drug use is childish and embarrassing in the way that shows how inexperienced you are with those kinds of drugs. if you look at this site and see funny colors and zippy movement and sudden scariness and [i]that[/i] is what brings up an excited discussion of psychedelics, then i have to conclude one (or both) of two things must be true.<br /><br />1) you have about as much "experience" with these drugs as a college freshman who just ate the second less-than-half of an 8th of mushrooms, and wants to play in the forest<br />2) you lack the articulation to express the true mystery and experience these drugs inflict on the brain.<br /><br />i have never ever ever been under the impression that these kinds of drugs allow the user to "see the truth," or pursue profound knowledge. No. it's pretty clear that these drugs simply inhibit, exacerbate, and rearrange the basic core functions of how a brain handles sensory input > cognition. the funny colors and patterns are the least exciting or interesting part. try losing all feeling in your body, only to look down and find your body to be gone - no matter where you look. or having your basil ganglia flipped completely backwards, so you try to turn right and you go left, or you tell yourself (as hard as you can) to walk forward yet you step backwards.

I won't recommend anything that is illegal in your jurisdiction. In most of the USA and other countries, Salvia is quite legal and gives you an intense 10 to 15 minute trip. Even the great Terrence McKenna recommended it. But definitely check out the legality in your state. Don't want to get anyone in trouble.
