http://maddox.xmission.com/keyboard4.jpg

I will only address things that are worth addressing:
Do I think that EVERY critique of capitalism is always from a Marxist pespective? No. But I would say for every 10 critiques I have seen, only like 2 or 3 were from a non-marxist perspective. That number seems low, admittedly. But of the other 70% to 80%, I would say that it was either straight Marxism or it is Fabian Socialism. Meaning that it has the state slowly replace the market functions over time. To me, that is like a very gradual version of communism, because the goal is the same as outright communism, it just takes a far slower route.

The reason I started out critiquing communism was to simply point out that the alternatives to capitalism (which I need a definition from your faction for) can be worse. An old expression is "The cure can be worse than the disease." I do not mean to say that EVERY possible alternative will be worse, just that some in the past became worse.

I probably could have handled myself better by asking around what solutions do people here think might be reasonable alternatives before anything else. I think this is important because we need to avoid the mistakes of the past for a better solution.

Another percentage of anti-capitalist perspectives I have seen include 3rd way, mixed market type solutions, kind of like band aids. In my mind, this might include how things are done in Scandanavian countries. I would never say that life in such places would be hellish, quite the opposite. But I do want to say that these countries still have a certain amount of capitalism present. Yet none of the scandanavian countries are known for starting war or having cruel police or prisons, quite the opposite.

Finally, the last kind of anti-capitalist perspective I am familiar with would be the anarcho varieties, famously including Anarcho-Syndicalism and similar ideas.

said the same things. Unfortunately, timing is everything. They raised money for the people of New Orleans... which is not their job. It's the government's job. The government failed. The band shouldn't have even had to think about traveling to New Orleans to help out... the government's job is to handle such situations with as much aid as is deemed necessary... and quickly. Timing is everything. You're an idiot.

Negative, Korf41. I'm not saying that those bands were supposed to be there helping.
And no, the video does not just paint a bad image of the government. It is a kick to the groin of the men and woman who WERE there.
The video makes it seem as if there was no aid at all, and that's a damn lie.
They were there not just to "clean up the mess", but immediatly after the levee's broke, Airforce PJs were jumping into flood waters to pick people out.
They were there.

Pink Floyd along with other bands are associated with being music for potheads. But for me to listen to most Floyd songs without the aid of weed just doesn't really do it for me. I don't know perhaps it is just me.

Dear Kaisen, you have no taste in music, and it's apparent you are the type of person who would contract AIDS from Larry Craig if MTV told you it was cool. People like you are the soul reason the word "Guitard" was coined, as you seem to like that flavor of the month band over a true classic rock band. You need break out of the pop culture machine. If you cannot do so, kill yourself, because you are part of the reason true art is dying.

and, here's another thing to make note of about all this:

2016 was a devastating year for Suzanne-related musician deaths from artists signed to Columbia Records:

David Bowie was the musician who started this Major Tom character canon with songs, and I described reasons why Thomas is the masculine version of the name Suzanne.

Prince died of drug overdose, and he was engaged to somebody named Susannah in 1984, the same year that Purple Rain and When Doves Cry was released.

Leonard Cohen died of old age, he had a song in 1984 called Hallelujah, his best known song besides Suzanne.

George Michael died of, I think, drug overdose too, his band Wham had a hit song in 1984 called Wake Me Up Before You Go Go. Another interesting thing about George Michael, is that he got arrested for gay bathroom sex several years before Larry Craig got arrested for a similar incident, and what do ya know, Larry Craig has the same initials as Leonard Cohen, and also had a lover named Suzanne.

well, I guess 1984 was a big year for all these Columbia Records artists who had hit songs in 1984, but David Bowie, for some reason fell under the "1984" radar.

but there is also this to make note of, Apple Computer was a key player in computer technology. The Apple II was first released in 1977, same year Three's Company debuted on TV, and the Macintosh was first introduced in 1984, same year Thee's Company ended it's run, and to top it all off, Steve Wozniak married somebody named Suzanne in 1990, the same year that the Macintosh LC came out, and also, the same year the DNA remix of Suzanne Vega's song Tom's Diner came out, seeing as Tom's Diner would be used as song to aid development of the MP3 file format, but the a cappella version was used for that.

very educational how I talked about this eh?
