1) Basically, what Xerxes36 said. Moderators should be able to delete offensive content / content that breaks the terms, etc. And as you say below, the community is overrun with bitterness and a negative streak. Moderators should be able to ban the accounts that are causing this. The community needs to be managed, and the moderators should be trusted and able to make calls like that. It's like refereeing a sporting event - they are there to enforce the rules and manage the flow of play. Someone like LegoLewdite, Xerxes36 or ryanmontana would be my example of an ideal moderator. These guys have consistently produced excellent content, they appreciate a wide range of sites and are just generally great guys. They never get bent out of shape or rant in the comment threads. They would be fair and impartial moderators, in my opinion.<br /><br />2) Fair enough, I think this is probably a bad idea myself. It's just an automated system that can be gamed. I do think more active moderation is preferrable.<br /><br />3 + 4) I would agree that punishing new users is a bad thing - but I'd argue that offensive and puerile content & user flamewars also punish new users. What happened to Lastimero? By demonstrating that negative community behavior will not be tolerated, it indirectly encourages the talented new users to stick around and keep making great content, which ultimately is what makes this site so awesome. It'll also directly encourage new visitors to the site to stick around and browse.

1.) What exactly do you think moderation will do? All moderators could do in the past is mark sites NSFW. What exactly is so rampantly ruining the site that requires intervention?<br /><br />2.) This has been discussed at length both in news posts and on the wiki. I don't want to get into the game of using the behavior of a user, their voting habits, or anything else to change the value of votes. A vote is a vote, and that isn't going to change.<br /><br />3 + 4) This is something we've discussed in the past as well, but it ultimately punishes new members of the site much more than it would stop alt-voting. Using a time-based gating system would just get people to plan out alts and using an activity-based gating system would end up spamming the site. The easiest way to remove incentive for making alts is by deleting the main accounts of people who make alts to vote, which we've been doing.

they've been offering hope of a better life to me for years.. an empty promise. the fact that the games in the pit are paper thin, goes to say how meaningless and shallow their games are. the needles represent addiction. and the wounds represent how they can cut and hurt you. The timer represents desperation.. mine and theirs. and also the release date. for them it is a release as well... hope of freedom. but they soon find out that it will just lock up and make their future seem less hopeful. These are the very faces that we must remember and hate.

Might be like an iceberg, where Moon Man floats visibly, but lurking beneath the surface is the much larger percent of the problem. I'm about as antiracist as a white boy can get (turns out, not that much), and I'll still get the occasional chuckle from a Moon Man site (more often from sites mocking Moon Man, but still). See, my point is that racism can sometimes be funny, but the constant comment page Ummy fights never are. And maybe since they're harder to avoid, I see them way more frequently. <br /><br />No one wants to traffic a site featuring petulant pissing contests all the time. On November 17, 2006, during a performance at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood, California, a camera phone video captured Richards[1][9] shouting "Shut up! Fifty years ago we'd have had you dangling upside down with a fucking fork shoved up your ass!" to a pair of black hecklers in the audience, followed by repeated shouts of "He's a nigger!" to the rest of the audience[10] (using the racial epithet six times altogether and making a reference to lynching).[11] Another black member of the audience who was offended by the remarks retorted by calling Richards a "cracker" and "fucking white boy."[10][12]<br />Richards made a public apology for his racist remarks, during an appearance via satellite on the Late Show with David Letterman, when Jerry Seinfeld was the guest.[13] He described going into a rage and said, "For me to be at a comedy club and to flip out and say this crap, I'm deeply, deeply sorry." He said he was trying to defuse heckling by being even more outrageous, but that it had backfired. Richards later called civil rights leaders Al Sharpton[14] and Jesse Jackson[15] in order to apologize. He also appeared as a guest on Jackson's syndicated radio show.[16]<br />Kyle Doss, one of the members of the group that Richards had addressed, gave his explanation to CNN of the events prior to the cell phone video. He said that they had arrived in the middle of the performance and that, "I guess we're being a little loud, because there was 20 of us ordering drinks. And Richards said, 'Look at the stupid Mexicans and blacks being loud up there.'"[14] Richards then continued with his routine. Doss added, "And, then, after a while, I told him, my friend doesn't think you're funny," which triggered Richards' outburst.<br />The incident was later parodied on several TV shows, including MadTV, Family Guy, South Park and Extras. In an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Richards appeared as himself and poked fun at the incident.
