The machine was probably already broken and they had no intention on giving it away.
People, it's not that hard for a radio station to promise they're giving something away to draw attention, then pretend to get agitated at natural demand for a holiday item, and finnaly proceed to destroy that nonexistant item by staging sound effects in the studio, therefore not costing the station a single cent. Fake'd!
