I don't think anyone knows what the chapstick represents. I think it was an unimportant obscurity in one of the original ytmnds about this subject and someone then thought it meant something. From there people just went along with "If you don't know, why should I have to tell you. It's in my ytmnd, I know what it means."
All in all, I could be way off or I could be right on.
Takila, look at the comments on this page. Most consist of "that guy should be killed/burned". So it's sick that the cat was burned but cool for a human to get tortured/died. See what I mean. People put animals above humans. God made humans IN CHARGE OF animals. We kill to eat, be it animals or plants. Both we're alive at one point.
I've logged in just to say this: That is f*cking horrible. Who the f*ck does that do a CAT. You know what they say, an eye for an eye. Seriously though, animals and humans should be treated equally in terms of cruelty. If you see a man get burned like that, the burner will be receiving far worse punishment than if that happened to an animal. Its stupid, the man should get the same punishment as if it was a human...
You'll all be happy to know that the link our buddy Ball was so fond of posting has been ALTERED. When I clicked "PLAY" just now, I was pleasantly surprised to see a compilation of funny talking cats! Check it--it says "YourDailyMedia.com" in the lower right corner. Not a flame in the whole thing! NEDM IS VICTORIOUS!!!
Couldn't get through the whole thing because the descriptions were too disturbing. I don't mind the fad as a random, meta-ish commentary on other YTMNDs (as seen in some of my comments), but here's the rub: anyone who does that to a cat and I find out about it, I will go gay just long enough to *ss rape that person into a coma. Humans fail at humanity.
Unbeknownst to most people (by that I mean everybody except myself, perhaps Spotz himself, and Baron), I was actually the first to puzzle over why Spotz had upvoted the kitten-torching site. The site was in fact originally made by user Baron, and I downvoted it, naturally, for its sick and twisted animal cruelty. A short while later, Spotz upvoted it for the (I quote) "irony of using the Doom bunny music."
I shortly after left a comment on the kitten-burning site stating something to the effect of "surely you don't think the Doom bunny music justifies the burning of an innocent creature?" But still he remained fixed on leaving his vote as it was, and I decided to drop the matter. It was, after all, just a site that would eventually fade into obscurity. Baron, the maker of the cat-burning YTMND, came to my sites and nicked them with a couple of twos and fours, telling me essentially to diversify my votes.
Shortly after this, the site was deleted, and my comment went with it. Titanium-Gecko, having been the one to take his reaction to this cruelty a step further by commenting on and downvoting the upvoters' sites, was the one who caught Spotz's attention, and hence played a major role in starting the fad. Any evidence of the short messages between me and Spotz regarding his reason for upvoting the site disappeared along with it, and all I have to show for it now are some slightly lower ratings from Baron.
