There's some around where I live. They work for small residential intersections, but I'd hate to see one on an onramp or a major intersection.

Brit Trivia: No one born in Norfolk can use a simple roundabout, let alone this monstrosity.

5 for picture, as it confused me. -2 because you didn't use "Roundabout" by Yes.
July 12th, 2006
(0)
LOL! thats taking it too far.. can i suggest some faster/more hyperactive music though? just might be a little more fitting
July 12th, 2006

Actually, giving directions on this would be easy, simply specify an exit and anyone with half a brain could make their way to the required exit.

"Look, kids! Big Ben! Parliament!"
July 12th, 2006
(0)
Whoa.. I've read jokes in British humor cracking jokes at some of the roadways but... is this real?
July 12th, 2006
(0)
True. As an Englishman myself, there are loads of these around - I live near to one.

Jee-zus! Good thing they don't have those in the states, people are WAY too stupid to use a roundabout, let alone the SUPER-world-ending roundabout seen here.
July 12th, 2006
(0)
@knapkinfish: More like "Look, kids! Big Ben! Parliament! Big Ben! Parliament! Big Ben! Parliament! Big Ben! Parliament! Big Ben! Parliament! Big Ben! oh shi-*vomits*"

I've heared stories of americans just driving over them then trying to claim diplomatic immunity (even though they aren't diplomats, though some are)
July 12th, 2006
(0)
Its like some kind of wierd puzzle. Oh and yeah theres too many bad drivers over here in the states, so roundabouts would be suicide :(
(0)
How the heck do Brits tolerate that crap?

July 12th, 2006
(0)
Apparantly if you look at it as 5 seperate roundabouts its easier to work out... Then again i just have to ask the question as to why it isn't just one huge roundabout in the first place?
July 12th, 2006
(0)
why not use a grid system and eliminate the need of roundabouts
July 12th, 2006
(0)
Why not use both? You can be more vesatile with roundabouts.
July 12th, 2006
(0)
I can't think of any music that would fit besides riddin' spinnaz. And whoever designed this should be fired :P
July 12th, 2006
(0)
Ah yes, the infamous round-a-bout. There to trap foreign tourists indefinately. That way they are likely to not want to come back! Here that JOHNNY FOREIGNER! We dont want you!
July 12th, 2006
(0)

July 12th, 2006
(0)
Because with gridsystems we would get gridlocks and gridlocks suck ass... Then again swindons town planners must have been smoking something when the laid the place out. urgh... one way system

I Must apologise then - I thought It was nothing but American Ignorance - There is a junction similar to that about 20 miles south of Dalry (My Town) and when I first saw this, I thought It was that one - Apparently not.... Proven Wrong apparently.... ... I'll Bump my vote up accordingly!
July 14th, 2006

July 16th, 2006
(1)
That's the "Magic Roundabout" in Swindon, iirc. Yes, it's real. Yes, it actually improves traffic flow, you just gotta treat each roundabout as a seperate one...
July 16th, 2006
(0)
The cars are lining up on the right hand side of the road in the bottom left hand corner.

March 1st, 2007
(0)
Wow, wtf... i live near milton keynes and i never heard about or seen that round about. Normally they dont cause too many problems, its just when they get so big you need traffic lights on em. Ironically, was only a week ago i saw a car almost get smashed to pieces by a HGV, cause this kinda thing.

Is that their plan for reducing congestion? Scaring everyone away from even wanting to drive in the first place?
