You need to play CT to understand this. Apparently, in this ytmnd, Lucca dies, and Crono would be yelling her name. But in the game, Crono says...NOTHING AT ALL. Thence the muteness!

You could also do "Metal Gear Vahn" and "Metal Gear Rudy", after the two heroes from Legend of Legaia and Wild Arms, who are also completely mute.
