On September 17th. Soviet forces invaded from the east. Warsaw surrendered 2 weeks later, the garrison on the Hel peninsula surrendered on October 2nd., and the Polesie Defence group, after fighting on two fronts against both German and Soviet forces, surrendered on October 5th. The Poles had held on for twice as long as had been expected and had done more damage to the Germans than the combined British and French forces were to do in 1940. The Germans lost 50,000 men, 697 planes and 993 tanks and armoured

"The Germans lost 50,000 men, 697 planes and 993 tanks and armoured" As the great Lex Luther once said: "WRONG!!!" While the Polaks did fight bravely against unbeatable armies on both sides, they really couldn't do that much . At the start of the war they had about 100,000 troops, a cavalry division and no anti-air or tanks. However it took Germany a full month before it took Warsaw, and Poland never surrended, since its leaders had already fled and its armies dispanded into a powerful resistance movement
WRONG, 1,000,000 troops, we had just defeated Soviet Russia not twenty years earlier, you think we did that with 100,000 troops? We have anti-air, anti-tank cavalry, premium Russian made tanks, and patriots with hearts of gold. The loss was do to poor planning: the plan was to bate the Germans away from the industrial part of Poland along the border and lead them to the Wisla river, where Poland had defended itself for centuries. This plan did not count the Soviet advance made on Poland.
