Great job, I believe there's even more. I can remember one pantera song that fit in there somewhere... I'll post again if I can remember what it is.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
I recognized Them Bones immediately when you played the Doom music. Anyway, good job.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe AC DC released Big Gun AFTER Doom was released. So nyah.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
doom copied form those metal bands or they copied from doom? maybe adding the release date for the songs will help...
September 18th, 2006

+5 to counter all the 1's for NEDM

You all are missing the point. I don't care WHO SOUNDS LIKE WHOM, I only care that they sound similar.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Old news. I spotted this ages ago. Infact, I've mentioned it in numerous comments here. Perhaps you saw them?

oops wait, there is NEDM... 5!
September 18th, 2006
(0)
It's pretty nice compilation, but riffs like that are always reused.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Very interesting, and a well-made ytmnd. You deserve more than a 5.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
1'd for god damn liar
September 18th, 2006
(0)
-2 because AC/DC and Alice In Chains are NOT METAL. Your comparisons are accurate, but I can't consciously reward anything that might help perpetuate nonsense like that.
May 27th, 2007
(0)
Well...AC/DC has some metal-like songs, and AIC originally was a heavy metal band before they entered the grunge movement.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Should I have said "Doom is a LOT of Metal AND Rock"? That just sounds redundant. I know metal and rock aren't the same, but there's no point in listing every little detail.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
5'd for NEDM.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
thanks for the nedm!
September 18th, 2006

5 for awesome ytmnd, -4 for nedm
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Fortunately for the good people at ID, Metallica weren't sellout bastards at the time, and the rest of those bands either didn't care or were flattered by having their music placed into a game that features mindless violence, space marines, and Satan! I know I would be if it were music of my making. This was quite amusing. I think I may just fav. this one for future reference.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
5 for ridiculous downvote excuses and NEDM.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
I noticed the Pantera ones, when I was playing DooM on my PSP.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Most of this has already been confirmed- he (the MIDI guy) was told by the programmers to go make looping friendly versions of existing songs. The real question is... did you get em all?
September 18th, 2006
(0)
I can't think of a comment
September 18th, 2006
(0)
You succeed. Good work, bud.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
this YTMND is most possible amount of win in the shortest amount of time, this would have been my favorite informative YTMND of all time if it wasnt for NEDM though. It's still a whole lot of win!
September 18th, 2006
(0)
alice and chains and pantera. yeaaaah.
September 18th, 2006
(0)

September 18th, 2006

There are some good comparisons out there, this isn't one of them.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Obviously took a lot of work to pull this together. Nice job.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
That was interesting, I applaud you for the amount of time that you spent making this.
September 18th, 2006

NEDM.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Nice, I think you should have made the clips shorter with better quality, and make it less obvious that NEDM was coming. BTW check out my doom sites.
September 18th, 2006
(-1)
1 for no NEDM
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Some of them are a bit iffy, but "Them Bones" is downright unmistakable. 5 for hard work (even if most of it may not have been your own)
September 18th, 2006

Awsome... +2 for good presentation +1 for doom +1 for nedm and +1 for saving nedm for the end 5 and Fav'ed

September 18th, 2006
(0)
If a lesson can be learned from this, it's that you have to properly credit the music you 'borrow', and that people are going to find out the origins on their own.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
4 for pantera alone... and slayer
September 18th, 2006
(0)
I noticed something about the metallica song... it sucks.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
awesome compilation. I only knew about Metalica&ACDC before DOOM. @(,@; also win.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
you would think on the back of the box they would cite some of the artists that they're so similar. 5 for accuracy.

September 18th, 2006
(0)
Don't tell me to listen to Metallica, BUB.
September 18th, 2006

September 18th, 2006
(0)
5 for alice in chains fan.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
It was, pretty terrible.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Was going to be just a 2 or 3 for cool music and a lot of effort. NEDM redeemed it. =^..^=
September 18th, 2006
(0)
I see similarities in some of them. Overall, it's a very good effort.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Sweet, I already knew most of these/heard about them but it was really cool seeing them in one presentation with comparisons to the real versions. Good Work! NEiD can be excused for ripping off metal songs like that! K, maybe this once...
September 18th, 2006
(0)
5'd for nedm
September 18th, 2006

September 18th, 2006

Tell me when you get rid of that stupid 'intro' frame in the beginning.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
One of the greatest games with music homage to some of the greatest bands. Excellent. Plus NEDM!
September 18th, 2006

You downvoted me because I had a 10 second intro screen? Jesus Christ...
September 18th, 2006

September 18th, 2006

I'm pretty sure it was intentional.

Lol nice NEDM... took a lot of time i see. GOOD JOB!
September 18th, 2006
(0)
no poland?
September 18th, 2006
(0)
I've never been impressed by these sites. Yes, many Doom songs are based loosely on rock songs, I'm sure. You could probably ask the creator of the Doom music and they would probably admit it. Secondly, Doom songs use rhythmic and melodic structures that are very common in metal and other rock music, and many of the similarities displayed herein are superficial at best. Many don't even display melodic similarities, and are therefore not worth noting at all. Three awarded for NEDM.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Not as surprising as the Michael Jackson + Sonic connection, but I'll give you a 5 for effort.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Holy sh*t! You win at life.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
i shall now trek to the offices of id! and slay for the gaurd and beat the answers forth from the programmers mouth!.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
"You're overlooking one important point: ALL metal sounds the same. It's a self-limiting genre." lol, this is coming from somebody that has probably never actually LISTENED to metal. Plus, metal is actually just a subgenre of rock, and rock sub-genres are usually limited (aside from prog rock). :P Also, to anyone who thinks E1M1 sounds more like Master of Puppets, you're overlooking the fact that E1M1 and No Remorse are in the same key, they more closely resemble each other's rythyms than E1M1 and MoP. But you're probably thrown off by the variation in tempo and the fact that MoP does sound a lot like E1M1. Also, good YTMND.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Fave'd, because that was the best DM/Real Song comparison YTMND ever, Id Software's choice in music f*cking rules, and it was a very well-put together presentation. Work on the synch a little bit, and you'll have yourself a boss YTMND.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
+4 for truth, -1 for who cares?
September 18th, 2006
(0)
awesome.
September 18th, 2006

September 18th, 2006

September 18th, 2006
(0)

September 18th, 2006

I wonder if they bought rights or if they could be sued.

Nice work, and- crap on manura!
September 18th, 2006
(0)
5'd. Long Live NEDM!
September 18th, 2006
(0)
Good work... And E1M1 sounds a lot more like 'No Remorse' than 'Master of Puppets'. No Remorse is the same rythym and note pattern, just in a different key.
September 18th, 2006
(0)
liar
September 18th, 2006
(0)
5'd for metal, and 5'd again for nedm

September 19th, 2006
(0)
F*CK i didn't stay for the NEDM
September 19th, 2006
(0)
So what's your point, ID listened to good music and made midi versions of their favorite jams..Are you new in town?
September 19th, 2006
(0)
I enjoyed this.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Haha. I never noticed that. Probably because Doom was pretty much before my time. :\ I saw the NEDM coming from a mile away though.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Oooh that's some good songs. Good effort splendid music and doom. 5'd
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Thats lot of doom-music.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
That third song sounds like Mega Man 2's Stage Select more than anything.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Can't say that I've played alot of doom but some of those songs were just a total rip... +5 (The Nedm part made it perfect).
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Finally someone gets all the doom song comparisons right. Last one of these I saw the guy had E1M1 as Enter Sandman instead of no remorse. He was noob, this is not.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Take any song, (or any YTMND for that matter) and you'll find something its similar to. The old saying "its all been done before" No, i did not wait around for the nedm...
September 19th, 2006
(0)
if i had to sit thru all that and didnt get to see happy cat also, c*cks i would not give you your stars
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Very good. And I knew the NEDM bit was coming at the end. It just had to. :)
September 19th, 2006

Composers for game music have been doing this well since before even the Commodore 64 days.

September 19th, 2006

September 19th, 2006
(0)
lotta work put to it well done
September 19th, 2006
(0)
You lied.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
after hearing that. I'd say they "stole" it. A lot of that is not just riffs. It's melody.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
:D wow that was awesome! the end made me laugh XD and yay for metal ytmnds =D
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Well done sir.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Dude, I'm sorry here, but you're going to have to get a three. This isn't creativity. As David Ruben said, Creativity isn't creativity if it isn't new and doesn't serve a need. We didn't need this.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
great collection. but I have a feeling you just coppied this off a conspiracy article and you arent great at synching. 3
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Read the site description, please. I've state numerous times that I got this stuff off several websites. It's not a 'conspiracy' (as you put it), it's something that IS. And the reason why the synch is off a bit is because do you have any idea how hard it is to get two things to go with each other when they are so long?
September 19th, 2006
(0)
5' for good sync, and interesting info.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
so basically you just put together another ytmnd based on the idea that doom songs sound like metal songs (i don't care if it's more, doesn't make it better)? also jesus who the hell sat through the whole thing
September 19th, 2006
(0)
NOT NEDM!
September 19th, 2006
(0)
haha, j/k good work, cap'n.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
5'd for NEDM
September 19th, 2006
(0)
WOW, i havent finished it but i wanted to ask if one was "this love" from pantera, i didnt even need help on that i think.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
YEA! knew the end would have NEDM!
September 19th, 2006
(0)
i was right! and good job getting a 4 with NEDM in your site, hasnt happened in a long time.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
You are wrong, E1M1 is actually based off of Master of Puppets by Metallica. But you got the others right.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Nooo! Now the RIAA is gonna sue id! Just kidding: Nice work!
September 19th, 2006
(0)
1993 called, it wants its discovery back
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Ill give you a three for all the work, the 5 would have been no nedm because you said there wouldnt be an nedm. Which I kinda figured you would lie.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
5 for nedm.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
the NEDM was obviously comming because you said it wouldn't . 5 if NEDM wasn't really there 4 for no NEDM but no promise. -1 for NEDM , -1 for pointing it out in the beginning
September 19th, 2006
(-1)
oh no, ive never heard the same beat in different songs, ever!
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Good investigation, although its already known to be based off of metal music in all obviousness, if you know the team of ID (John Romero huge metal fan) as well as a few other devs.
September 19th, 2006
(0)
very bizarre
September 19th, 2006
(0)
balls for calling a few of these bands metal. good call on a few...but probably should have titled it "proof why metal lies stagnant since 1993"
September 19th, 2006
(0)
::single tear:: for so many comments believing this to be the first evidence of plagarism
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Very good work
September 19th, 2006
(0)
That is badass... they actually sound better in doom than as actual songs though...
September 19th, 2006
(0)
nice sh*t man, im convinced
September 19th, 2006
(0)
You forgot E3M1 is Pantera's Mouth for war.
September 19th, 2006
(0)

September 19th, 2006
(0)
Doom is indeed all stolen material. gg id.
September 19th, 2006

September 19th, 2006
(0)
also c*cks is never a win
September 19th, 2006
(0)
Not even doom music escapes
September 19th, 2006
(0)
If most of those songs were made before doom came out, doom most likely used those. Or its a wierd similatiry. Look up when all the songs were released...
September 19th, 2006

Interesting.

Assh*le, I should give you 1 star for putting NEDM even though you said you wouldn't, but since I'm an upvoter, I'll give it 4

The metal band came after doom was created. ID had a time machine, travelled in the future stole the music from various metal bands, went back in time and put the music in their old *ss game. 5ved.

The NEDM would be better if you made it appear like another mapsong and made a midi version of it, going right into it. Thats a true NEDM sight, with surprise. -1 until you fix it.

It's probably been mentioned already but Pantera did actually write the music for the game, they have been acredited by ID.

"You downvoted me because I had a 10 second intro screen?" Yes, that's right. If I ever wanted to watch this LONG ytmnd again, I'd have to sit through that again, so I made a suggestion to make your ytmnd better, but you make a response of hostility. Just put that in desc or comments, that's what they're there for. I guess I should just make a gimick for downvoting instead of actually suggesting improvements...

You people saying there's no comparison: what the f*ck are you all smoking? I can see MAYBE not being convinced by the first half, but if you still say there's no comparison after the second half, then you're only looking for a reason to downvote. Idiots.

NEDM was not a surprise for 2 reasons: 1) it's not synced correctly so saw the image about 4 seconds before the sound, 2) the long pause for "i lied" provides WAY too much time for us to figure it out.

The sync will be different for everybody. When I watch it, the middle is slightly off, but the NEDM part syncs near perfection. For others, the whole thing could be messed up but for more others, it could work good enough. I might try to fix this, but for the moment, it would simply be too much work to readjust every little thing because of slight changes in both the sound and picture.

5'd for metal music. the "Big Gun" Part sounds a lot like Master Of Puppets as well :)
