Artistic license to include vast numbers of nebulae are the driving force behind space games. No, seriously. Go play Homeworld or Eve online or something. All of them have beautiful formations in space in every direction. While in reality, the sky observed by the naked eye is actually pretty bland from most points of view. Like ours.
