if you look at the link he says "this is only a picture" not "this auction is for the picture" - if the intent was intentionally tricking people will get the auction thrown out and him banned, i guarantee it. i'm not even convinced its a trick, looking at his feedback rating/history. i think you're looking for a prank where there is no prank to be found.
so he buys and sells a good amount of stuff, no trickery. whats preventing him from turning around and making a quick 1000 bucks, easy? kyro and sitsu, you are both retards. im 100% sure that he was selling only a picture of the PS3. however, im pretty sure the winning bidder isnt going to pay for it, considering he doesnt have any bidding history.
Hmm.. it could just be someone's first time on ebay and all they were looking for was a PS3. Not everyone is going to have feedback, some people are just one time buyers. They don't have to be ebay-addicts with over 1,000 purchases. There have been a lot of scams on ebay of people selling just the box, a photo of the item, or even broken ones.
It's a shame the bidder actually put "You are bidding on a Sony Playstation 3 60GB. This is the REAL DEAL!" and not "You are bidding on a picture of a Sony Playstation 3 60GB. This is a photo of the REAL DEAL!" If he sends only a picture, that's easily grounds for fraud. Gotta be careful what you put in the auction ad, especially if you're going to try to cheat someone.
I remember watching an episode of the People's Court (yeah I know not a real court room, but she is a mediator nonetheless and the rulings are binding nonetheless), and someone did something similar with some picture of a cell phone. The person lost because the description of the size was wrong, and hence is was false advertising.
