HISTORYTMND: Garden of Eden Chat
Created on: December 12th, 2006
I made a few photoshops a while back for the Somethingawful forums detailing what history would be like if it took place on the internet, I'm posting them here now, this is part 1 of a HISTORYTMND series. I'd be thrilled if this idea caught on with other

History: "the branch of knowledge dealing with past events." At the very least, the bible is part of history if for no other reason than because it's really old. Also, you believing that the bible is based on fairy tales, does not make it so. Granted you can't prove the bible to be true either, but then again, a lot of what we consider to be history is based on books and other written material as well...
The existence of Alexander the Great doesn't depend on an archaic text. There is real evidence. Saying that the Garden of Eden actually existed is akin to saying that Poseidon personally washed Odysseus ashore on whatever island in that mythological book he did so. I am quite content with that. If you can prove that there was a Garden of Eden then I'd be happy to see the evidence, but there's only one source in history that identifies it and no physical evidence. Sorry. Lose. Whetstone is an idiot.
ShiftEsc: Actually since it's mythology and not history, whereas every other of the series is historical, then it makes sense, whether you believe it to be true or not, to categorize it differently. The Garden of Eden is a story with no evidence that suggests that it actually happened. The Battle of Troy was a historical event, but the Illiad is mythology because it is a story with no evidence to suggest that it actually happened. I really don't see how accurate categorization is "aggresive", but whatever.
I don't get how it's a forced fad. All I did was submit these ytmnd's last night then went to bed, and I wake up and they're popular. I mean, I'm pretty happy about it and thank you to all the people who aren't angsty preteens and support smart ytmnd's, but it's definitely not a fad being forced by anyone.
