Free market capitalism doesn't work at all. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who really believes that free market capitalism works, and they're put up a weak argument. I could defeat their arguments with 1 sentence. Monopolies and externalities mean that the market equilibrium is not equal to the social optimum. BLAM. Of course, with perfect regulation it works perfectly, but that's not free market capitalism, and all systems are imperfect as is their regulation. But communism just fails.
Learn some history? How about the fact that the first bands of Humans were egalitarian hunting and gathering groups. They all worked together and shared almost everything they gathered/hunted. No form of pure socialism or communism has ever been attempted. Pseudo Socialist nations such as Venezuela and Sweden exist successfully and have never had a genocide or any economic collapse that the so called "communist" totalitarian dictatorships such as the USSR and North Korea had.

*ss and work for a living." If only you educated yourself, you would learn that russia tried to base socialism off of feudalism (thusly it failed because socialism requires capitalism to precede it.) You would also learn that people in america get their asses kicked everyday working 40..
.. hours a week, just to barely get by, why a rich CEO profits exceedingly off of their unpaid labor, and lives a life of luxury and prestige. If you get down to it, all socialism truly is is the banishment of the parisitic upper class that feeds off of other workers labor, and hordes it. Under socialism, you dont get paid equal, you get paid what you actually work hard to earn! If someone is rich in a socialist society, it means they worked for it, as opposed to not working for it.
Every country in history based off of capitalism has fallen the hardest when it does. The amount of corruption and widening gaps in social class leads to an uncontrolled industrial(or whoever has the money) dictatorship which is based off of exploiting other nations and its own people. Socialism is supposed to keep big business from raping the lower/middle class and depending on how you set it up, it can still run as a democracy and have national health care, better working conditions, lower % unemployment.
Greed is the main reason that selfless gov't systems dont work. If you allow capitalism to run rampant, then too much of your success depends on other nations. If economic control over those nations is lost, then the system fails (Euro?). Socialism also allows for a self-sufficient system in which reliance on other nations is not as crucial. Then you don't have to bomb everyone to be successful. You can spend that money on a stronger social net and improving everyone's lives instead of a lucky few.
