If its in the public domain, then it probably doesnt need to be cited. Im guessing Tempest and the other fellow released their stuff to public domain.

1'd for bringing attention to this. Content theft should just occur without any reprocussions. Timbaland, like Eric, knows that because of his backing (and ESPECIALLY being backed by record labels), that no one would dare sue him, as the legal costs would be more than they could possibly recover. Let the smart thieves get off scott-free and stop making these damn sites.

never cared for either of them anyway.

Tempest holds copyright to this song the instant he created it. He did *NOT* give it to the Public Domain (which is a different thing entirely) - he simply gave up his rights to pay for people to listen to it. If Timbaland claims all copyright for the song ("Exclusive, original ringtone!") then he violated Copyright Law. That's it. He. Broke. The. Law. But hey, "Screw the rules, I have money!"

Nothing personal; the negative reaction is mostly aimed at the screaming VOAT % idiots who spammed this thing way the f*ck up there. It's called sampling, it happens all the time, let's move on as a society please. It's a good song. Also, to morons who don't know otherwise, it's not a rap song, not even by a faint stretch.
January 27th, 2007

It is not sampling! He "sampled" the whole freaking song!
January 27th, 2007
(0)
Ahaha..."Sampling" my ass. Well alright, I'll humour you - but here's a clue, SAMPLES STILL NEED TO BE CLEARED. If it's not cleared, that means it's *ILLEGAL*. Deal with it.

QUOTE: "black ppl steal everything? everone steals from everyone, white ppl stole alot too.. umm lemme see... land...cultiure (rock n' roll music was founded by blaack ppl it derived from the blues look it up on wikipedia) I guess white ppl just are better at covering the fact that they steal o.O" I KNOW THAT DEBATES ON A YTMND FORUM ARE KIND OF POINTLESS, BUT I CAN'T RESIST BURNING YOU WITH A RESPONSE...

ROCK N' ROLL MUSIC is not BLUES MUSIC. ERGO, NO STEALING. BEING INFLUENCED BY SOMETHING IS DIFFERENT THAN TAKING SOMETHING AND WITHOUT ALTERING IT, CALLING IT YOUR OWN AND PROFITING OFF IT. ALSO, I DON'T SEE BLACK PEOPLE LOBBYING TO GIVE BACK CALIFORNIA TO THE INDIANS...

F*cked up! I can imagine one nerd in the future, taking this and rewriting it as a live huge song, and everyone would love it and wonder where it came from =P TEMPEST DATS WHOO LAWL

Damn, so rap has got another one? The big labels always seem to do this these days. Half of the stuff being produced is either totaly ripped (rarely) or heavily 'inspired' by classic stuff. It must realy suck to be a small time dude, and get your stuff stolen years later by gigantic, faceless corperations who can destroy you by whistleing into a phone.

"I'll correct one persistent misconception: I have been using the services of a law firm since September 2006. Things are gradually developing behind the scenes, and whatever the result turns out to be like, I'll publish any available info here as soon as possible."[4]

OK, Timbaland is a thief. However I give him the credit of making a good song out of the SID. But yeah, he is a thief. :(

Isn't this beat or sound arrangement also used in the song Timbaland produced for 50 Cent called "Ayo Technology" .. just kinda sampled and tweaked with it's tempo? Sounds the same to me.

there's a youtube about this as well. timbaland responds and mentions how he "sampled" a casio keyboard's demo song to use for one of his own songs, casio came after him and he told them to get bent. he is the biggest twat in music.

it's called sampling to you sh*t

The original creators don't deserve a dime because they are cowards and don't want to fight the MAFIAA.
