For all the people talking about Macs playing games better, especially on a different OS (hello contradiction), where is the official Mac commercial for it? How about a new arguement. Google "build your own PC" and then "build your own Mac". Anyone who is mature enough can easily build a better PC for cheaper than a Mac. I like only having to make incremental upgrades and being able to reuse parts if i ever need to, not spending $2000 for a whole new platform.
If you Mac gaming people want to prove everyone wrong (including me), link some Mac gaming benchmarks vs. PC gaming benchmarks from a reliable tech website. I'm not gonna make a stupid claim that a PC can run a Mac OS and edit videos better than a Mac without providing some proof to go along with it.
Anti-Mac comments with highly biased and ignorant rants are irrelevant. The argument shouldn't be Mac vs. PC, it should be about well engineered hardware or a superior OS vs. Windows, an outdated, insecure, proprietary behemoth mess of an OS. Obviously there is a need for versatile gaming machines. But It's about supporting a better alternative. Regardless of what form it comes in. Macs are just proof that there are better engineered machines and better designed software out there.
Mac OS X, by default, requires a password to change any system file, has a superior firewall, keeps your passwords secure with keychain, and offers the ability to AES-128 encrypt your entire hard drive. They are more secure from the moment you start one, without anti-virus or additional software. Unlike Windows. If a virus could be done easily, it would. Imagine the attention it would get. What hacker would turn that down?
It's not about shiny exteriors, Apple offers innovative design in everything they do. The advanced interface along with features like Expose will change the way you navigate your OS, iMovie the way you edit video, Garageband, iTunes and of course iPods for music, and so on. Everything is more functional and better designed. You have to honestly use a Mac, with knowledge of the system and third party applications to fully understand it's superiority.
Regardless of what you dislike about them, it's not that Macs can't do games, they do them very well. In fact, at E3 2005, Microsoft used old generation G5 Macs to run all of their Xbox 360 games. Windows is simply a necessary evil for most gaming, due to the stronghold Microsoft has on the gaming market for "ALL" competing platforms, and the lack of competition in the computer OS arena. A Linux gaming solution isn't that far away.
Once more for all the morons. Boot camp does not emulate windows and mac users can use it to play windows games on macs, if they would want that. Mac is not Macosx and try Macosx before yelling (if windows is so much better, then why is vista stealing all their "new" things from macosx?). Fine if you dont wanna use macs, nobody is forcing ya, but stop yelling retard nonsense.
That wasnt a G5. That was like a G. It's old, really old. I've had my G5 last years iMac. Never crashed nothings ever gone wrong with it. IF you take a windows computer from when the mac in that film was made, i think it would be like windows 98. That had its flaws too. Plus this movie is a bit of an exageration and I can't tell if its for or against macs.
I personally only consider Macs for hte Adobe technology, I hear it actually runs better on Macs. But personally I am not a fan of it, mostly because most of those commercials are making PC look dumb. Look at the web cam one, all you have to do is plug it in, install the drivers done. How is that hard?
