PREACH ON BROTHER! Also I notice how Americans just LOVE to shift blame towards others instead of accepting some f*cking responsibility (i.e. Columbine, 2004 Black outs, getting burnt by hot coffee, etc.)

This is very inappropriate. Think of all the lives that could have been lost if these devices were actually bombs. I mean, we have to deal with terrorism everyday. America is the toughest country in the world to live in. Everytime I get on a bus I think to myself, "This is un-American." Yet, we are forced to because our gas prices have risen to levels that rival the half-price levels of gas in Europe. The terrorists are to blame. I, for one, hope for the day when our streets are as safe as those in Israel.

Korf 41, TAKE YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS! LEDs that look like moonanites cannot be bombs; terrorists are not THAT bizarrely creative; they are minimalists. WE don't have to deal with terrorism every day, that's mostly our government's job (and they are pretty bad at it). America is still magnitudes safer to live in than Israel, as far as paramilitary and military threats, that being terrorist attacks against Jews and reckless attacks by the Israeli military that kills innocent Palestinians.

My thoughts exactly, although those dreadlocks should be a federal offence.

Also, I'd just like to remind everyone that our tiny little nation of 260 million people has been attacked AT LEAST twice by terrorists in the past 2 decades. This is obviously unacceptable and we should hold all Muslims responsible which entitles us as the Chosen People the right to eliminate the threat through reeducation of the true faith or by force. It's what God would want. We think. We can't get him on his cell at the moment, but we did some interpolation from the Bible and... well we're pretty sure.
February 3rd, 2007
(0)
Also, anyone who disagrees with me is either a heathen or a terrorist, so I'd watch what you say. Wouldn't want to have to get Patriot[ic] (Act) on you. And don't cry for the "innocent" Muslims. Jesus will be here before long and he'll deal with them. It's not like they have rights. They're not even Americans! The thought makes me laugh.

OMG that means anything could have been a bomb. I better isolate my stapler!!..They were lite brites that had been up 2 weeks prior. "America is the toughest country in the world to live in." Its getting that way due to commander dick weed and elmer fudd in office, not because of terrorist which have always been around and will always remain so.

No bomb in history has had decorative lighting, AwesomeBob. Also, the terrorists we're dealing with don't plant bombs. Why would we ever worry about a bomb that has been PLANTED? Only people who want to get AWAY from the bomb would PLANT it. We worry about fundamentalist suicide bombers. If we see a bomb planted we can pretty much assume that it is an AMERICAN or at least a WESTERNER such as good ol' Teddy McShack o' Montana.

I've seen alot of people say, "if those were bombs...something" If those truely were bombs, planted by some terrorists then this shows the kind of job the department of homeland security is doing. Boston would have been blown up weeks before anyone realized the devices were present... devices made of blinking LEDs in public places. Anyone who has every taken a highschool electronics votec class could now be a suspected terrorist... brb, fbi is here to detonate the christmas tree i havent taken down...

I think it was three years ago, a kid dropped a part of his science project out side of the school, and the bomb squad came in. That is not a joke. On a different note, I think the retards that phoned in thinking they were bombs should have to pay the money the city spent.

The company was forced to pay the money to the city because of the media coverage, that much is fairly obvious. Had the media instead addressed the story as "Boston Police Act Ignorantly In Response To Marketing Campaign" as it obviously should have been addressed then the company wouldn't have paid a dime and the city would be apologizing to its residents. However, because the government loves to fearmonger and Americans are retarded, they are forced to in order to save face.

I can kinda understand how people might be alarmed and the little panic could've started, that's fine. But don't f*ckin throw those guys in the brig, that's uncalled for, completely.
February 3rd, 2007
(0)
There are hundreds of thousands of objects in a city which contain wires and batteries. The REAL problem here is that Boston was the ONLY city out of 10 to react the way they did in a COMPLETELY irrational and ignorant manner. Also, the fact that they failed to assess the threat until TWO WEEKS after the devices were planted and proceed in acting the way they did makes them look EXTREMELY incapable of acting in a timely fashion and obviously they have no conception of "appropriate measures".
February 3rd, 2007
(0)
The press conference was as absurd as the media coverage. If they were to treat this situation as seriously as the media does they would be making a mockery of the process as much as the media does, and that would obviously be insulting to the two men involved. They were the ones who planted the devices IN BOSTON. Since the devices were all placed at roughly the same time there were probably 9 other twosomes that planted the devices in the other cities, yet they are responsible not for their actions...
February 3rd, 2007
(0)
amen
February 3rd, 2007
(0)
but for the REACTIONS to their actions? If they did something illegal, then they are as responsible as the people in the other cities, which is to say not at all. However, the fact that they are the only people who were arrested is absurd. Also, the possibility that someone is responsible for the absurdity of the reactions to an action rather than the actuality of the action itself is a terrible precedent to put into place.
February 3rd, 2007
(0)
One terrorist attack that killed 2,000 people out of 260 million in the last decade allows the government to impose police state like repeals of civil liberties? What a joke. The uneducated masses in this country who will believe anything they are told out of ignorance is a danger to the rest of us. People naturally have a fear of the unknown. Ignorance breeds fear. America breeds ignorance. That's a scary combination.
February 3rd, 2007
(0)
The worst part is that they address the devices as "HOAX DEVICES". How are they a HOAX? They do not AT ALL look like bombs. They have batteries, wires, and LEDs. That someone could mistake a circuit board with LEDs on it for a bomb yet carries around a cell phone or has ever used a TV remote is ridiculous. Had they been covered, nondescript boxes hidden in strategic locations rather than ATTENTION GRABBING objects placed in HIGHLY VISIBLE areas, I can see how this situation could arise. As it is... absurd.

Also, people are not legally required to hold press conferences and it is NOT a crime (I guess I should repeat this since people are so retarded) it is NOT a crime to lie during or make a mockery of a press conference. The only thing to discuss is whether they were rightfully arrested. That is obviously not true. Now, if you want to talk about Turner's response... they apologized and paid a ridiculous sum of money merely because it was on tv. Had it not been, they would have fought the charges in court.

Nice Adult Swim parody. I'm fine with people reporting a wired device on a freeway support, but I think the BPD should have realized upon taking the thing down that it was harmless. Instead, they said that the things resembled IEDs (they were improvised devicecs, and I guess 2 out of 3 is good enough). And the media reporting this as a "hoax" when the only allegation that these things could be bombs came from paranoid cops is ridiculous. In a way, it shows how the security is still inefficient, though.

Security is plenty sufficient as there hasn't been a single incident in 5 years. You can never prevent the threat of a terrorist attack completely. Not even close. Anyone can buy the parts to make a bomb anywhere in the country and blow it up at any time. The easiest ones to stop are the ones that are planted, as was supposed in this case, because there is a time between when they are revealed and when they blow up. Suicide bombers, however, give no such opportunity. See: Israel.

""It's clear the intent was to get attention by causing fear and unrest that there was a bomb in that location," Assistant Attorney General John Grossman said at their arraignment." GOOD LUCK PROVING THAT dumbass Attorney Generals. On the scale of "fear inducing objects" I place small LED devices depicting cartoon characters about dead last on the list. I'm more afraid of spray paint.
February 3rd, 2007
(0)
"The appearance of this device and its location are crucial," Grossman said. "This device looks like a bomb." Some in the gallery snickered. Outside the courthouse, Michael Rich, a lawyer for both of the men, said the description of a bomb-like device could be used for any electronic device. "If somebody had left a VCR on the ground it would have been a device with wires, electronic components and a power source," he said.

5. It gets pll thinking. A bright lighted device was in place for two weeks before it came to the attention of the authorities. I wonder how long a bomb could go undetected. kinda scary if you think about it. but the truth of the matter is, terrorism is a tactic, not a nation-state. Not an Ideology. You can defeat a nation-state or an ideology can be proven false. A tactic can only be defended against, not defeated.

Korf41, chill the f*ck out. First you come on ranting here that all Muslims are evil, and then you start calling yourself one of the "chosen people." F*cking die in a ditch. I can't even begin to explain how mad you people f*cking make me. Your not the son of God. You seem to know so much about the Bible, yet you forget that Jesus is a forgiving person. Why the hell should we hold all Muslims for what only a few did back then? But then again, I'm sure your "God" would love the eradication of innocent people
February 3rd, 2007
(0)
i concur. people these days are too god damn paranoid of terrorism. terrorism is suppose to cause fear and panic. If people will no longer fear terrorism, it would be much less of a threat. If the goverment would censor the stupid media, maybe there would be less gullible people. Also could be a conspiracy about the goverment using people's fear of terrorism to their advantage.
February 3rd, 2007

your arguement has a flaw... it is ILLEGAL to do what they did. it is against the law, period. although im laughing with everyone, i do believe they should be prosecuted. mayhaps not to the extent of the law, but still, if they do something illegal and stupid (which i do find that to be) then they should take responsibility for it. as well as anyone they worked for who ok'd the project. im not talking jailtime, im talking a slap on the wrist. again, i still think its hillarious, but...

lol at people missing the extreme amounts of satire in my posts. lol at zorgzorg's hypocrisy. crying about a guy using ytmnd to cry. awesome. i've stopped using capital letters this time around. william: extreme ignorance on the part of the city is not an excuse to prosecute a person in excess of his crimes. he did the equivalent of littering or graffiti. he did not incite a panic as they claim. the city of boston incited panic due to their irrational paranoia.
February 3rd, 2007

in order for the two guys or turner broadcasting to be prosecuted for the alerts and panic they will have to pass a law stating that all people who place objects in public with visible wiring and a power supply will be subject to arrest on charges of attempting to incite a riot. That will include all electronic appliances in windows and on exteriors along with a host of other things. streetlights placed near or under bridges or overpasses will all be taken down due to their bright lights and wiring.

I've mentioned this before elsewhere. I was once asked by SWAT to take cover because they needed to detonate a lawn lamp with wires sticking out of it that someone had stuffed in my neighbors mail box. This was pre 9/11.
