The Size Of Our World - Special Edition

it was actually our solar system. makes me wonder how accurate it is though, since he's a pluto forgetter. You fell for the trap

Didn't you 5 for forgetting pluto? Though I'm sure he didn't "forget" but rather left it out since it's no longer considered a planet...

canis majoris wears the pants in the universe.
October 20th, 2007
(1)
Yeah I did a little bit of research on Canis Majoris after watching this...it is nearing the end of its lifespan and we recently got pictures of its outbursts - as it dies, it flares out and goes ape sh*t like death rattles. It will eventually explode into a supernova.
March 10th, 2014
(0)
Considering the size of this star, a supernova is common and irrelevant. We're talking about a hypernova at the very least.

What's wrong with you people? This adds very little to the original size of our world. It just looks slightly fancier and there's no Pluto

VY Canis Majoris' radius is almost 2100 solar radii, meaning that if our sun were replaced with it, its surface would envelop Jupiter. It's infathomably huge. Here's a good picture of our sun next to LBV 1806-20, 38 million times more luminous than our shrimpy little star. http://www.solstation.com/x-objects/1806-20b.jpg

I did not think the great dog was so large. Shouldn't it collapse into a black hole at this size?
July 14th, 2009

Canis Majoris is not massive enough to collapse into a black hole. Despite it's size, it's density is very low.
March 10th, 2014

Not sure why this needed to be made... again. However, lack of gimmicks was nice. One problem, though: No matter how big something else is, our world is the same size. People should get with the program and start calling these things "The Relative Size Of Our World".

I like this, obviously alot of hard work went into it, and for the most part its paid off. I would say the planets stage is a little bit too slow and there's occasions when you don't get a sense of scale. But well done.

HEY IDIOTS! people really need to stop complaining about the fact that this has been done before, i typed "the size of our world" into the search and about eight sites came up. then i typed "NEDM" "LOL, internet" "poland" and "300" into the search and an uncountable amount of sites was shown. so you complain about a site that has been done about 8 times yet you all worship as gods those who make an NEDM site or a 300 site. get f*cking lives. what? this site doesnt scream "sparta" so you 1 it?
March 29th, 2007

Cool Cool Cool.
March 29th, 2007

we cant sit back and admire the size of our universe without you getting on our dicks about it? surfanddestroy, make sure you add an overdone fad such as poland or NEDM next time, never try to make the users of YTMND sit back and think, they are apparently incapable of that.

Why is everybody suckin' pluto's dong on this website? Who gives a f*ck? It's still out there! Think about it if you want to. Pluto doesn't give a f*ck if we call it a planet, part of the Kupler belt, or Steve. It's still so god damn far away from the sun that it's freezing its balls off and will probably never support a cell worth of life. After the sun expands and burns up the earth, you won't find civilizations on the outer planets 1*ing ytmnds because they forgot to include Earth.
