kingston samples quite a bit, but I don't think the rest of the songs are similar

Kingston is on a mission to ruin classic songs like he did with "stand by me"

This is more along the lines of a sample, look at any reggae song from the past there are 500 variations on it in existence. reggae is a big grey area when it comes to this.

I don't know .. even when most people sample they don't also make the rest of the song sound that much like the original .. at that point he should basically be calling it a cover or should gtfo

the majority of rappers these days lack serious ammount of creativity. they all take old songs and "improve" upon them

Forget rappers, it's basically the mainstream music industry in general.

Haven't heard the full song but based on this it sounds like he was doing his own cover of the song. And he completely f*cking butchered it. N*GG* STOLE MY SONG!

All rappers, hip-hop artist, et cetera commit plagarism. This is nothing new. What have you been living under a rock? Also, Avril Lavigne.

you mean to tell me that you have listened to every rap song ever?

No, only the ear rape I hear on the radio at work.

Then you are experiencing mass produced rap. Which in the opinion of the oh so wise internet music experts is every rap song ever. Right now all I'm hearing in rap is "I f*cked a white girl","I'm the club","Sex me up now","I do drugs","I have guns". There was a time when it wasn't all sh*t but I'm just saying what you are doing is eating the proverbial leaves of the rhubarb and thinking that down to the stem it is all the same.

Sadly, all that one has to do these days is change one note in a riff, or add an extra 'oh' and it's 'original'. It gets hailed as genius, and this is one reason why I want to walk around with a flamethrower, and burn half of the world population to death. Music today is sh*te!
