Well FireFox doesn't pass the Acid2 test either, unless of course you're using the unstable 3.0 beta. Just because a browser passes the Acid 2 test doesn't mean it's standards compliant. In fact many of the browsers that do pass the Acid2 test still require box model hacks as the engine rendering the sites appearance is proprietary to that browser and how one engine rendered 1px, pt, % or em can be marginally different than how another rendered those same measurements.
