Beauty once lived here (update)
These are pictures of a waterpark/theme park that used to be up and running in the 90's and shut down for no reason, and the rides were not taken down. Everything was left there to rot... Also, subtitles coming soon if you guys want. If some people are h

Wow, awesome ytmnd. I love seeing things like that and wondering about what it used to be like when people used it. When did the park close? Looks like it's been out of commission since the 70's

It closed in '99, there aren't any reasons really why it closed. It just turned into a place to party from 2000-2005 and for the past couple of years nobody goes there anymore. I used to go there with my family and then it just shut down.

That place kinda looks like my parks I make in Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Also 5'd for Boards of Canada. Looks like a pretty sweet spot for Pacard to go bobsledding. Hmmm... that gives me an idea.

Prudhommes "Wet 'n Wild". All of the rides are buried within the snow now, and in the summer all of the tall dried grass takes over where the paint slowly dried up more and more until it turns it's known rust colour.

That's what I was thinking. Looks like some people set up a ramp to get up on the ledge in one of those photos. Just skating down the track would be awesome.

All in the eye of the beholder. I think it looks more beautiful like it is. 50 years from now, it will probably look even more beautiful.

I love creepy abandoned building photography. There's a good-sized list of hundreds of defunct amusement parks on Wikipedia, including a hurricane-ravaged Six Flags in New Orleans.

I love pictures of chaos taking back what men have made, wherever I find them. But InMyHomoeroticOpinion you should have chosen the middle of the track with the robot sloth voice -- it's the only thing that makes the annoying child laugh forgiveable. Still, all in all, i c wat u did ther

Ok, changing the pics back to regular. It's jsut some of them won't be changed because they were in B&W to begin with.

Why'd they shut it down and let it all go to waste? What it reminds me of is Koyanisqaatsi. The way modern man (in contrast with ancient American Indian civilizations) does all of this building only to waste the work he has done. Stupid f*cking white man.

Kind of depressing, but very thought provoking. This YTMND is a sobering reminder of just how fragile this manufactured world of ours is. We could after all, be just one war or disaster away from entire cities looking like this. It's actually kind of disturbing.

When I was younger, I worked at a fairground in Fredricksburg VA. They did Ren Faires, Halloween horror shows, stuff like that. Then one day, the company running it decided it wasn't profitable enough, and closed it down. Seeing it years later, overgrown and devoid of humanity was one of the most haunting feelings in my life. All things must pass.
