Lutfisk in Swedish or Lutefisk in Norwegian (pronounced [lʉːtəfɪsk] in Southern Norway, [lʉːtfesk] in Central and Northern Norway, [lʉːtfɪsk] in Sweden and the Swedish-speaking areas in Finland (Finnish: lipeäkala)) is a traditional dish of the Nordic countries and parts of the Midwest United States. It is made from stockfish (air-dried whitefish) or dried/salted whitefish (klippfisk) and lye (lut). Its name literally means "lye fish."
This is incredible. Their movements are jerky and almost pensive - ever watch the Batman cartoon in the late 90's? The christmas episode had one of the villains kidnapping a family and tying them to chairs to reenact scenes from "It's a Wonderful Life." This gives me that feeling - they're scared and soulless, inside masks of happy faces...
