Prior to the past couple of years, all I really knew of electronic music was Moby, The Chemical Brothers, and Daft Punk. It's pretty much through YTMND that I ever heard of those groups you mentioned above, which is awesome because without that, I wouldn't have ever considered seeing Tobacco live (which I did) on his ongoing tour this spring/summer. It's such a far cry from the "techno" stereotype of electronic music, it's a wonder that the two are even still squeezed into the same genre. It's like classifying heavy metal with alternative rock because they both use guitars and drums. But I'm really off on a tangent here...

I watched the harmonium documentary and found it to be very interesting. I always assumed the origins of electronic music were from around the 1950s, when you had a lot of weird avant garde artists doing a bunch of experiments. I never would have thought the beginnings of the medium to be so...classical. Thanks for the link and thoughtful comment.
