The problem with your argument is that it represents capability, not ideology. The Twentieth Century has two developments, the rise of atheistic and secular societies that coincides with major developments in communication, transportation and capability to inflict massive death. Ideology has nothing to do with it, the Christian armies of the American Civil War created the deadliest conflict in American history. Religious numbers are lower here because you can classify the combatants today as secular.
