God would rather you spend the cash on helping the less fortunate, then attempting to make a martyr out of yourself. I'm sure Max appreciates the donations though :-)
Also, if most Christians I didn't know didn't go out of their way to paint a big target on themselves, because they think their God WANTS them to suffer, it would be easier for me to feel bad for them. Learn the truth of your own religion before preaching to others please.
The irony is, the early Christians were persecuted because the Romans saw them as a convenient target to blame for Nero's pyromania, and the later ones were persecuted by other Christians.
But remember...even though we can't remember the DATE, it doesn't mean we can't use it to justify everything from high gas prices, to war, to outlawing the gays.
