I like this song because well you know how everyone had a bad childhood, came from a dysfunctional family, or was molested, and that's why everyone is so f'd up? She's saying I liked my parents and I had a happy childhood. Should she assumes no one cares about her because she didn't get molested as a kid?

As it says, real book but Mr. Goldberg didn't really write it so his name had to be shopped over the actual author's.

You've dedicated a large portion of your life to being on the same internet "team" as prairiedogeric10 and lacrossestar83

it's not as hard to make fun of you as you might imagine

Let's pretend for a moment that you're not just the latest in a long line of pokemon boys to become obsessed with me here over the past 6 years and that I'm not aware that every thing you do here will guarantee there are fewer people visiting to see your 'gay flash movies better suited to newgrounds' tomorrow and I'll feign rage at your idiotic comment...

"Grrrrr"

That was fun

"I'd like to mention how at the beginning of 2011, if you remember, I came online and sent you among others messages stating my desire to set aside the whole 'troll wars'"

"So now I'll propose the message again: maybe ease off a bit bud"

I'd like to mention that since I've known you all you do is act as though you have great wisdom to impart. You do this to everyone - and everyone tells you to shut the fuck up because it's obvious you do not.

Let me try to explain how delusional you are when it comes to the subject of you:

You made this account and apparently this site in order to pwn me - yes? You say as much in your comment.

You also used this account, less than a day after creating it, to make a flame post aimed at me:

http://ytmnd.com/sites/973429/profile/c6120723#c6120723

THEN you posted two comments about me on your own new site - which is the current top rated YTMND and also a site I myself had not commented on - trying to incite a flame war. In the comment you proclaim yourself to be the magnanimous peacemaker and me the wretched troll who won't ever stop trying to wage war with you.

.

Do you have any sense of just how lacking in wisdom I find you?

Actually, I don't really want an answer. So just enjoy the last word, faggot.

lacrossestar83 - isn't he your best YTMND buddy? Okay then you don't get to brag about getting a 5 from him. Fair enough?
Nyeusigrube - she's friends with you and lax, right? Let's check out her voting history --- Gosh, the only site she hasn't 5'd in the past 2 months was one of mine. Okay, you don't get to brag about that one either.
DaveTheRave - Dave voted on your site at least 3 times for a rating of 4.33 - actually lower than its current score. Hey - that's one for you buddy! You might want to take that up with Dave and ask why he did that. Doesn't seem fair.
jimmm - obviously his ratings don't mean anything
prairiedogeric10 - http://bit.ly/HTF5a9
mcearlgrey - I don't have any reason to doubt he honestly liked your site. But, he has made a dozen or so seperate flame posts aimed at me in the past week so, who knows?
As far as my vote, I'm pretty consistent in my downvoting of anything Will Smith related. Not a fan.

Anyway, that's just from people who have commented. I don't know about the rest. But hey, I wish you luck on your site. But maybe try to keep it in perspective.

"you criticized me for not being able to make a site that gets a high rating"

I believe what I was saying was that my sites have been more popular than yours over the many years we've been YTMNDers. Even a full two days later, that's still true. ::shrugs::

"I created this site, which has been on up and coming all day and has maintained a good rating without me using a single alt or telling anyone to 'vote five'"

I'm not sure that not voting on your own submission is actually something you get to brag about. It's good that you didn't but you don't get points for that. That just brings you to normal.

As far as the site being on UnC for half a day - that's swell! But it's maybe not as epic as you think. Just about every site jimmm posts has around a 4.70 rating after 30 votes yet many of them wind up off the front page by the end of 4 days. You know - after enough legitimate voters rate it to counter the fake votes.

Speaking of which, let's see who has rated this site highly...

Going back to the Troll Boards; this explains the real reason new people are attacked and trolled. The funny posters, the ones who are the actual reason you are there, they'll make a nasty comment or two because it is a troll board. But that's it. The ones who don't ever stop, who insist no new members be accepted into the clique (basically unless they sign an oath of fealty toward them), those are the ones with nothing to offer. Who are desperate to hold onto their place in an IM chat group of 5 to 10 people. They're the ones who kill communities unknowingly out of their desperation to be part of it.

See if you can identify such users here at YTMND. And then maybe do something about them.

But most people like an ass kisser (and you'll find no shortage of insincere flattery at YTMND). So in these smaller groups, these cliques and troll boards, you'll find members who aren't particularly entertaining or likable yet who have some very read standing and respect within that group. Simply because they are part of the group.

Simply because they show up everyday and are there all the time.

These people tend to be VERY defensive when it comes to this standing within the group. Someone like our hypothetical "New" Nutnics isn't going to care. He can take or leave your group. He makes the best sites so everyone is going to be kissing his ass.

Once someone with no real talent finds a place where they are accepted (again, done simply by showing up every day for years) they have to hold onto it because they have nothing else. And the worst thing that can happen would be for a bunch of funny and interesting new people to come into the group and sort of drown out their nothing. So, as I said, they are very defensive in this regard. And react in very offensive ways to try and protect their standing.

Some might suggest that the creator of YTMND, Max Goldenberg, makes his site intentionally unwelcoming in an attempt to prevent it from becoming something as godawful as Reddit and it's Funny board. But to suggest that would be to ignore the reality that it is nearly that bad while still being somewhat unwelcoming to the average noob. So, we currently have the worst of both worlds.

Meme-generator level content [site advicemax4:site] with no audience.
Most of the larger discussion forums that spawned from the YTMND community were so-called Troll Forums. Considered legendary (by their own members) in trolling any new poster. An initiation of sort. Put a new poster through hell and see if they're cool enough to take it. At least, that's the claim. The reality behind such communities is something quite different.

When you think of YTMND, a user like Nutnics didn't have much of a problem being accepted. Though he was hardly a vote whore, he was actually quite often mean in voting and commenting on other's sites. But he simply made the best sites. So he was accepted.

I would be interested to see what would happen if a Nutnics were to find YTMND for the first time today and set about being active in making sites, voting, and commenting in the same manner he did 6 years ago.
Because invariably on those 'Troll Boards' there will be a core group who chat or IM together off board. YTMND has always had such groups, the Troll Boards themselves, IRC, Gabbly, Aim and Skype, even friggin' Meebo.
Just like YTMND, these smaller groups have some members who are very funny. Others who are very uninteresting and who can only parrot what everyone else says and hope to fit in with obsequious pandering.

The Unfunny Truth About Unfunny Websites

Whatever first attracts you to a community, be it the freedom to post shock images, grown men skillfully pretending to be teenage girls, or fresh fruit, if you stay there it will be for one of two reasons. Either you've made friends you enjoy interacting with or you dislike the community so much that you just want to troll them.

In this way YTMND should be different. Because it's not a message board. People create images and audio files to make their own YTMNDs. That's what the site is for. If the site worked as intended these YTMNDs would be rated on their content and nothing else. But that's not how YTMND does work. It's not a stretch to suggest that most of us could predict exactly what everyone else is going to vote on any given site without ever seeing the site itself, only who submitted it.

Now whether YTMND ratings worked as intended or not the site would not be as popular as it was in its heyday. Incompatibility with mobile devices and ever changing browsers treating Gifs and Flash animation in ever changing ways make YTMNDs an unfriendly link to share with the WWW. Indeed it seems that whatever is currently the most used browser in the world it's a safe bet it will not play (re: sync) your faggy short films as you intended, despite your files being synced to the 100th of a second when you made them.

However it's still not uncommon to see a YTMND go viral. Yesterday this site [site bartman:profile] got a few thousand hits from offsite. Follow the link back you'll see this comment:

"Sorry, I don't click external links. never heard of that site..."

Which was followed by someone explaining what YTMND was and insisting it was a safe site
