"Eloquence belongs to the conquerors."

And in your quest to discredit Christianity, you have thrown aside the only weapon; Logic. You had no right to use it, anyway. Besides, that comment wasn't even directed at you.

Your understanding of hell is deeply flawed, I suggest that you read the Divine Comedy. Furthermore, that quote is taken completely out of context.

But it is, however a belief. A philosophy by which one lives and dies. That is the essence of religion. Ergo, it is a logical fallacy to declare that atheism is not a religion unto itself, and that people cannot kill in its name, like any other. This begs the question that if all Christians are guilty of murder, what color, then, are the hands of an atheist?

Has it not ocurred to you that the hateful speech is coming from you? Look within, and confront the gods you have created for yourself. As Friedrich Neitzche once wrote, "Those who fight monsters should take care, lest they become monsters themselves. For beware, when you look into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you." Truer words have never been spoken.

However, Christ did not preach organized religion, his apostles did after his death. I feel that the direct teachings of Jesus espose a personal, direct relationship with the almighty; as opposed to the feel-good "contemporary" approach, or the "murder the unbelievers" approach. Jesus never advocated violence, not even to save himself from crucifiction. I suppose, by this criteria, I am as fundamentalist as they come, since I choose to focus on the actual Son of God rather than those who came before & after

If you are so determined to apply that twisted logic to Christianity, please, take the next step and apply it to Islam and Atheism. However, this is beside the point. I am sure that the majority of Atheists, Christians and Muslims are decent people who aren't out to murder anyone for their beliefs. However, if evil people come into power, they can (and will, and have) use them to "demonize" people of other persuasions. Religion is not evil, but it is a product of humanity, and thus, innately flawed.

I do not follow the Old Testament, I only go by what Jesus Christ said and did (at least, I try really hard.) That being said, I cannot speak for anyone but myself, but I will not allow myself to be spoken for. Christianity is NOT ruthless, however, many evil men who have used it as both sword and shield are; do not make the mistake of throwing the baby (that is, philosophical truth) out with the bathwater (overused tautologies and outdated theology.)

@MasterSitsu "By their fruits, ye shall know them." Honestly, do you really think that those men, by their actions, could ever qualify as true christians? Really, though, you would have much more success comparing Islamofacists with Godfearing Muslims. My point is that when you toss out the ethical side of religion, you've lost the whole thing (and, consequently, your right to associate yourself with it.)

I simply fail to understand the majority of the criticisms which have been directed at this site. This is not offensive to Atheism any more than it is offensive to Christianity or to Islam. Ultimately, people of all different ideaologies have killed other people at some point in time. It is simply human nature to eleminate those whose viewpoints do not conform to your own, or, in many cases, those of the majority. Sadly, this is happening here, with this YTMND. The irony is stunning, really.
