Dude, sampling is as old as day. Especially synth cover samples. Old rap and hip-hop used mash-ups all the time, and many techno artists create beats and melodies for other people to mix and rework, usually in the form of LPs to do some scratching.
Limewire used to be good - that's how I got most of The Critic downloaded - but now it's about as lame as Halo. Get a BT client. With pining over Halo you must be quite the dorky lamer. Just go outside and play hacky-sack with your frat bros and make up some story about how you totally got under that girl's shirt while making out in the dorm stairwell. Nobody believes you.
