Ultimately the one's who are to blame the most are ourselves. The simple fact of the matter is that the users here cannot be collectively trusted to maintain a healthy, unmoderated website. But I think you are forgetting one important thing kekko. You point out that many of our actions display hypocrisy and we have not justified in our complaints. I think in general, this is true, but you have to realize that a lot of us just won't give a shit until there is a sufficient reason for believing that ytmnd can succeed again. We don't care. We are kids that have been given a magnifying glass, and we see the ant hill. How can we expected to NOT burn the little fuckers? Or alternatively, we are the normally law-abiding citizens who, under the circumstances of rioting, see an opportunity to loot the place, and would do it until order is reinstated. Sometimes the lingering threat of punishment from authority is the only thing standing between chaos and civility.

Timaeus, a lot of your arguments are poorly reasoned or evidenced, so since kekko seems to be done with this bickering (and I don't blame him), I'm going to refute some claims of yours.<br /><br />1. You claim that kekko's opinion was unnecessary and that most people couldn’t care less about it. Okay, the second part of that claim is quite true, but you’re wrong on the first part. To rephrase, you are saying that him [i]voicing[/i] his opinion is unnecessary (because, technically, opinions are completely necessary for people to have any sort of perspective).<br /><br />No, his opinion was not, strictly speaking, necessary to voice, but for that matter, whose is? Although opinions are not entirely necessary to voice on their own merit, I argue that in most situations, voicing an opinion is very necessary to make one’s self understood. In addition, opinions are also necessary for any sort of debate or disagreement to exist. Since the above comment chain is both of these, one must agree that the voicing of one’s opinion is absolutely necessary.<br /><br />And let’s be clear about something: kekko's initial comment was not an opinion; it was a statement. You were the first one to voice an opinion here, so if anyone’s opinion was unnecessary, it was yours.

3. You claim that kekko envisions this perfect scenario where everyone is supposed to upvote garbage. I gather that you have no idea what kind of user kekko is and are only going off of his user profile.<br /><br />First off, he has a voting spread made almost entirely of 5s. I gather that you have interpreted these as upvotes. I also gather that you viewed a couple of these sites and found them to be garbage. Therefore, kekko only upvotes garbage, right?<br /><br />Firstly, whether or not sites are garbage are strictly opinion. Secondly, have you ever considered that maybe he only votes on sites he likes? If you had taken a clue from his initial comment, you might have been able to figure this out (rather than spewing about some boycotting business, which I’ll get to in a minute).<br /><br />The much more dubious part of your claim here is that kekko wants everyone to vote like him. He has left comments in the last news posting that declare something quite different. From what I can tell, all he wants is for the voting alts to be banned and for YTMND not to die. Your claim here is nothing more than baseless conclusions riddled with bias.

4. You claim that everyone knows of your strict voting standards. The first part of this claim is completely inaccurate. If everyone knew of your voting standards, why didn’t kekko? Okay, so you didn’t literally mean everyone, but you did imply that a majority of people currently using YTMND are familiar with the way you vote. I highly doubt that.<br /><br />For one, this is a completely different place than it used to be, with completely different users. Maybe everyone knew of your voting standards at one time, but that’s long ago. Unless you’re someone like Umfuld or jimmm, hardly anyone these days has heard of your voting habits, if indeed they’ve even heard of you.<br /><br />The second part of your claim says that you have strict voting standards. If this is the case, then you should vote 1 on anything and everything that you feel lacks effort or entertainment. How, then, did you end up voting a 5 on [site oprahbees:site]? Maybe you somehow found it entertaining, but if you truly vote on effort, then there is no way that you could have used that criteria to vote on such an effortless site. Entertainment is completely subjective, but effort can be measured very objectively—in other words, you can’t write this one off as opinion. Yes, you can accuse me of cherry-picking, but in order for that accusation to fly, you have to admit that your voting standards are not strict enough to pass inspection.

5. You claim that kekko not voting on your site is boycotting. As you yourself implied, he’s not doing a very good job boycotting your site because he’s commenting so much. Perhaps that’s because he’s not boycotting, which is indeed what he said.<br /><br />So how do you explain the non-vote? Well, this invites speculation, as no one entirely knows this but kekko. Judging by the first comment, though, I gather that it is because he feels your site to be worth a good rating but is unwilling to vote as such because you downvoted the front page. He finds this in poor taste, but he isn’t one to downvote, so what other option is there?<br /><br />This is not boycotting. He isn’t trying to drive you to behave a certain way by not, as you say, dealing with your site. He [i]is[/i] dealing with your site, only in comment form, and I’m pretty sure the comments have been far more effective than a single vote would be.<br />If you think you can disprove anything I’ve said here without being disrespectful or making even more baseless claims in the process, I’ll happily listen.

I've actually been toying with the idea of kekko as an alt. Flags went up for me when he started posting the dick-centered sites, especially the one where he claims to reveal his own. He says he lives in Europe, but his activity tends to follow that of someone in the Americas--he says this is because he likes to surf in the morning, when all the "activity" is happening. On top of that, his comments have grown more and more like the ones above: long-winded, well-worded, a tinge feminine, awfully sincere, and focused on making YTMND a better place/pointing out the faults of troll banter.<br /><br />The thing I can't get past, though, is his presence on the rest of the internet, which includes YouTube accounts, deviantART accounts, and even a personal website. That's a hell of a lot of fake profiling for a YTMND account. Plus, he has been consistently active for the past few years without raising any suspicion (I doubt lickit would even have the patience to pull that off, not to mention the ability). Heck, he even spends some of his spare time on YTMND's minecraft thing. I just can't imagine anyone being able to pull off such a realistic alt account.<br /><br />The real issue for me is whether or not kekko is authentic or inauthentic. If he's the real deal, then I can't help but think that he's dealing with some personal stuff through behavior like that above. Like he's an insecure, closeted gay seeking refuge/expression as an anonymous internet user or something psychological like that. If all of this is an act, then I have been trolled immensely. I have had some pretty long PM exchanges with kekko, and I've always been honest in them. Granted, I'm always honest here, and granted, I don't give out any personal info, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't trust kekko.

Well, I am glad that you are nice to at least a couple people here. I'm sure Kekko and dascoot are great people. I personally am not familiar with them. I know pohandle on facebook - he seems okay. He handled a disagreement we had relatively well in terms of not getting emotional or relying on personal attacks.<br /><br />With all due respect, your standards for people seem pretty high. Perhaps that's why you seem to reject most people here?<br /><br />I vote highly for Darthwang sites that I have because those have made me laugh. I can only recall one moral problem I actually had with him, and that was his gobacktomexico.ytmnd.com site, which was using racism to attack someone. Definitely did not vote 5 on that one. <br /><br />Yeah, I'm not terribly thrilled he has called people 'faggot'. Especially since what I know how that kind of issue is hormonal based and can't really be controlled by the person. From what I understand, the orientation of a person is driven before birth. So I no longer ridicule people for this sort of thing, unless it is against a sincere homophobic monster like Fred Phelps (and done for irony).<br /><br />But the context of him doing this, a lot of other guys done it to him and he just retaliates. Darthwang does the same thing. Well at least he used to. Now he seems to do it out of habit to anyone who acts like a dick. I probably would have done something similar before I knew what I know.
