The same could be asked of the 67% that voted for Montford. How many of the 99,000 people that voted for him do you think understood his positions? In fact, go to his website and find me one single position of his on any major political issue out there. (Education aside, since he has served in education for over 30 years.) Let me know if you find anything about any issues, or any possible solutions or ideas he perhaps has. The same argument can be made the other way around -- while "pot heads and people that vote for anyone with an "R" next to their name" might have earned me a significant amount of votes, an overwhelming majority of ignorance must have accompanied those who went to the polls to vote for Montford. Why? Because no one had a clue what he stood for. Every speech he gave consisted of something like, "What we need in the Senate is strong, effective leadership." No substance whatsoever.

I'm guessing roughly 20% of the people who voted for me were aware of my platform, judging from the number of public speaking engagements I attended, the amount of press surrounding the election (quite limited), the amount of advertising I did, and the number of unique visitors on my website. The rest of course would either be those who simply did not like Montford, those who voted straight Republican, or those who simply did not care. I doubt, however, that any significant number of them were "potheads" (aren't Republicans supposed to be anti-pot, anyways?)

Montford spent about $475,000. I spent every penny of what was donated to me.

I am curious as to what your position is on hemp. You say you don't want to debate me on it, but, as I have not heard a single logical argument against the legalization of hemp ("We have more important issues to talk about" is not an argument), I would greatly appreciate your insight.

This particular element doesn't necessarily affect my vote, but I do feel there is some inconsistency in the elements of this site.

Star Wars + Cartoon Thwang + Price Is Wrong Tuba + Thwomp = Jumbled Mess

Perhaps an anvil in lieu of a thwomp would be more appropriate considering the cartoon-ish style of this site. I really like your sites in general DarthWang. I just think something's missing or out of place here.

Doing something creative to what would otherwise be a direct rip of some video is always worth extra points to me.

What's also worth extra points is having a gif without a watermark (there are plenty of free tools out there that won't generate one of these), and music that's appropriate.

So basically, your defense is that in order for something to be racist, it has to be negative and/or hateful and/or ridiculing. Can't racism just result from plain ignorance? I do see what you mean about there being a difference between racism and racial stereotyping, but that doesn't change much for me. I don't find either to be very acceptable on its own.

You have to make the very topic of racism the joke, not the actual content of racism. I thought your site about Asian baseball players was a fantastic demonstration of this. It played on a seemingly American stereotyping of Asians in such a way that the stereotyping perspective was the joke rather than Asians. In this site, I don't really see that.

I think a better argument would be that you were contrasting the elements of the well-spoken, intellectual girl from Bill Nye with the crude stereotyping from long ago. Perhaps you could convince us that this was somehow satirical, that it actually had a point. Otherwise, it's just an out-of-the-way punchline that can only be funny because of just how out of the way it is. I suppose that's fine, but I'm sure there's plenty of other options you could have taken to get that effect.

ooo, also, my friend and i just discovered a boom mic reflection on some shiny surface on the bridge. first time i've ever noticed that in tng, i think... i forget the name of the episode, but it was a Beverley Crusher centric episode, the one where members of the ship/crew kept disappearing along with all traces of their existence, and Crusher would be the only person who recalled anything about them. eventually she was the only person left on the ship as it was self destructing or on some collision course with an energetic anomaly or something typical like that. as it turns out, she was actually displaced in some alternate universe bubble created by her twink son Wesley Crusher created in an experiment we saw take place earlier in the episode. Geordi La Forge let Wesley do the shit. yet another Geordi screw up, like telling the ship's computer to create a holodeck adversary capable of defeating Data in a game, which led to the ship's computer becoming self aware. dumbass.

I seem to remember something about sandwich choices, and I know we had salad choices. We would have to take red laminated strips of paper if we wanted taco salad and green if we wanted chef salad. There was yellow too, but I can't remember what that was for (possibly PB&J). 3rd grade was definitely my favorite year (1997-98) and this site seemed to hit everything right on the money. Everyone was drawing the S that year and I hated it, until someone finally showed me how to draw it. I don't remember anything about the cube though. We also had "lunch tiles" with our names on them, which we placed under our desired lunch. And we also had all those stupid little tasks to do (moving the name tiles after lunch was one of them). I'm not exaggerating when I say that I was the smartest in my class that year. I would always compete with this other dude in everything and I usually came out on top (getting the most stars for completing the most math exercises, other shit). I was the overachiever back then. Then I got to middle school and said "Fuck this shit."

tl;dr

I read it because you replied to my comment and it showed up in my profile. This place probably is run by alts, way too many right now. I guess I would no longer be surprised to find out that newer users (09ers, 10ers, 11ers) are actually long-standing 06ers, 07ers, and even some 08ers. I mean, even you are a fairly new user, who has made decent sites since day one, something that is a bit out of the ordinary for someone without experience of YTMNDing. Or maybe you've been making nice edits since before you had a place to display them. It's hard to know anymore.

There has apparently been a group of users out to get me (and very likely, a few others) for years, using multiple alts that they pass around to each other. I've always known that one account in particular has been used by more than one person, but have always attributed it to its creator and ring leader because accusing someone else would not be right. I have to ask myself "What the fuck did I do to make so many people mad? Make bad sites?" For anyone reading this, because I know there are people who follow me around 24/7, I'm sorry I tainted your enjoyment of a website by being present.

I'm not saying that you, Lastimero, are part of that group in some way or some other user posting sites with a different account out of the fear of knowing that the sites would be downvoted on his real account for past douchebaggery, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that you are, since it has been happening a lot lately. I'll just say for the record that you make great sites. So if you happen to be someone like He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, who gloats about his "best sites", then fine. You've proven that I vote based on the user's negative activity. Not like it ever needed to be proven, since I've openly commented with my vote on his above-average recently created shit.

And if you are

Its the law of fads my friend, I rip off a funny site and people rate it half as funny as the original, you rip off my rip-off of a site while ripping off that retarded soundfuck fad at the same time and no one likes it.

Go ahead bro, drop ten bucks on your site and see where it goes. Good Luck.

Hey, you wanted to be funny, perhaps something less annoying in the sound and something more insightful in picture and you could have owned me but you did not. Try to keep in mind that all of My YTMNDs took a grand total of maybe 5 minutes to make combined. If I gave a shit and put out something original with time and effort It would probably do well, however I spend most of my time working, playing games, partying and fucking. Instead of sitting in front of photoshop for hours or paying for film to gif software to make a bunch of ADD sufferers laugh. But hey, when I've got 45 seconds to waste and nothing better to do, bam one YTMND.

Wow, it's been a day. I woke up literally with the news of his passing. I'm really saddened because now I don't know if there will be any real innovation... minds like his don't come everyday.

Unfortunately, my experience with Apple products hasn't been very positive. I bougth an iPod in 2005 but it broke down a few months later, and a free replacement lasted just in time to be out of warranty. A batch of Toshiba hard drives was defective and I think there were not enough complaints for Apple to issue a free or discounted replacement out of warranty. I don't have a lot of money so I was very disappointed, and angry. I became angry at the whole brand, feeling that their products were not worth a play, and started to walk away from the fake confidence I gave myself when I bought my iPod (it costs a lot so it must sound good and it should never break down!).

I'm planning to get a new MP3 player now, and I might give Apple a go again. Not because I'm jealous that everybody has one (seriously, they are everywhere), but because there are so few good choices when it comes to external design and usability. Some companies copy Apple, and I would feel uncomfortable using something that looks like... but it's not, some are very nice externally but miles behind Apple, and others, well, they do it their own strange way. I'm not very happy with current iPods having a Cirrus audio chip, because, I read, music sounds really bad and almost tinny. But if they get a Wolfson chip again I'll be happy to consider buying it. After all, I don't want to get blind with a lousy 2 inch screen! I want to get blind the old fashioned way: by looking at porn in the bus!

All thanks to the great and daring ideas of a man and his staff. I want to remember Mr Jobs for his own ideas, and I think I will do the same when Bill Gates, Martin Cooper, Linus Torvalds, Clive Sinclair and many others will lead the way to new geniuses.

I thought about both of those options, but:

1. I don't think mp3s can loop seamlessly.
2. Using animated GIFs in the foreground causes certain issues that I don't know how to solve. For instance, If I were to put the sun and the 4 guys with wands in the foreground, the animated pieces would have a thin, white border around them (something to do with the way transparencies in GIFs are processed?). It looks kinda sloppy, so I went with 1 GIF when I realized I could get it all in 1 GIF and under 8MB.

Apparently, APNGs are the solution to problem #2 - how do you make these kinds of files?
[site universea:site]

Well, I am glad that you are nice to at least a couple people here. I'm sure Kekko and dascoot are great people. I personally am not familiar with them. I know pohandle on facebook - he seems okay. He handled a disagreement we had relatively well in terms of not getting emotional or relying on personal attacks.

With all due respect, your standards for people seem pretty high. Perhaps that's why you seem to reject most people here?

I vote highly for Darthwang sites that I have because those have made me laugh. I can only recall one moral problem I actually had with him, and that was his gobacktomexico.ytmnd.com site, which was using racism to attack someone. Definitely did not vote 5 on that one.

Yeah, I'm not terribly thrilled he has called people 'faggot'. Especially since what I know how that kind of issue is hormonal based and can't really be controlled by the person. From what I understand, the orientation of a person is driven before birth. So I no longer ridicule people for this sort of thing, unless it is against a sincere homophobic monster like Fred Phelps (and done for irony).

But the context of him doing this, a lot of other guys done it to him and he just retaliates. Darthwang does the same thing. Well at least he used to. Now he seems to do it out of habit to anyone who acts like a dick. I probably would have done something similar before I knew what I know.

god dammit dude, did you really need to choose that song to identify the silly sex romance that was going on???? the site needed no music, you could have taken any other auditory angle. do we need to repeat the same trends, satisfy the same expectations? this site would be so much better with just something else to auditorilly enhance the fun/funny.

Max, if you really believe in the dream you would give this site some sort of moderation. Umfuld's said it a million times and he's right. There are too many cancerous parasites on this site and its gone from thriving, to being comatose and on life support.Users like farkle, santabotai, pilleater, joshcube, johnnylurg and their combined 10.000 alt accounts are what destroyed this place. No one wants to put any effort into creating any content when there are about 10 circle jerking faggots downvoting anything of value and upvoting moonman, santabot, mr.krabs, and party mouse sites. No one wants to view anything because anything of vaule is quickly banished into oblivion and everything on up and coming is vote hacked trash.

I understand why you've hesitated so long on moderation but if you really want to resurrect this site then it is the only way. Complete freedom of expression is one of the things that made this place great a long time ago but in the end it appears to be the same thing that's killed it. You have to get some mods and there are still a few quality users here who I'm sure would do it. You could assign mod tiers and promote people when they moderate responsibly and revoke their mod status if they start banning user accounts based personal grudges. You could make it so accounts can't be permanently deleted unless the mods vote on it. Hell you could even be lazy and just have a group of users of your choice get together in chat at a designated time and vote out cancerous user accounts and send the results of the vote to you if you are too lazy to fuck around with the code for a mod system.

So do you really care at all about this place max? It made you a pseudo celebrity once. Now it's good for buying you a bottle of grey goose every other week. So will you do something to fix it? Or will you give us another news update in 9 months briefly informing us of a con you will be attending.

Also, I'm back bitches.

1.) What exactly do you think moderation will do? All moderators could do in the past is mark sites NSFW. What exactly is so rampantly ruining the site that requires intervention?

2.) This has been discussed at length both in news posts and on the wiki. I don't want to get into the game of using the behavior of a user, their voting habits, or anything else to change the value of votes. A vote is a vote, and that isn't going to change.

3 + 4) This is something we've discussed in the past as well, but it ultimately punishes new members of the site much more than it would stop alt-voting. Using a time-based gating system would just get people to plan out alts and using an activity-based gating system would end up spamming the site. The easiest way to remove incentive for making alts is by deleting the main accounts of people who make alts to vote, which we've been doing.
