I didn't know they'd be f*cking homework based, it's bullsh*t. Last year i had 3 homework based classes, german twice, and calc 3. To be a doctor you have to go through homework based classes i.e. chem, math, physics and crazier stuff.

For f*cks sake Tile, vote for YOUR opinion of the site for once. Stop basing it on overall score. And mcroix definitely does not "suck". He's one of the better YTMNDers of the day. He makes one site that is a little under his typical site quality and he automatically sucks. Jump off a f*cking bridge.

Hello buds,
A good deal of exciting news on the forefront. First up is that after months of bugging the company who makes the software which turns our GIFs into SWF, they sent us the C++ source code for the GIF portion of the code and davidc managed to track down the bug. Now we're just waiting for them to send us a new version of the binary and we'll be ready to do another test. A little more about this at YTMND Development Blog. You can also view the source code of the new flash template here.
Next up is that the refactor is now being worked on at least 30 hours a week. We have the new design for YTMND.com. I've spent the last few months slowly rewriting all of the core libraries where needed and the dev site is beginning to come together. It's coming.
I know I'm guilty of prematurely announcing features, and I don't want you all too excited. It's still probably a couple months off, as this is a rewrite of 90% of YTMND's code base, as well as a 100% rewrite of the HTML and Javascript. So much of what currently runs YTMND was written in 2004 and 2005, and I've learned a lot since then. I'll try to update the dev blog frequently about what I'm working on and the progress. At some point in the future people will be needed to beta test the new site, as everything down to the login system has been completely rewritten.
I just got the new designs last week so I've been chopping them up. I know you all want a peek, but be patient my prettys.
T-shirts are still coming in, but this week I'm sending off some designs to the printer to do some test prints and see which designs end up looking good and which will fall apart after a few runs through the washer. I've got an actual third party on the store, so this time around things should be more organized. I'll post more information sometime next week on what designs we chose.

and you ARE scraping the bottom of the bucket with this one... If Tile whollops you over
the head, I will just make a site about PHRENOLOGY. That is an old form of psychoanalysis
based on feeling the bumps on people's heads. (ba ba ba, ba ba bar Ann)

Of course I changed my voting habits over the years. Ytmnd has changed a lot. Aside from gr33nscr33n asking me to prove that I could vote 1 without fear of the reprisal, I have only changed my voting habits based on the worsening of content, and the lessening of other users. I changed my habits because ytmnd got worse, not because you convinced me that I was an offensive upvoter.

I think hidden/exposed is based off a % based off the ratio. -9 could be +0/-9 or it could be +91/-100... very different %s.
It is also entirely possible that max just doesn't know basic math.

Recently created isn't flooded with moonman sites. U+C actually gets more than 10 sites a week up there because good sites aren't blown off of recently created in 5 seconds. I'd say it's helped alot. If we could only get the user base back this place would be back to the way it was.

The benefit of making it a more complicated process is shutting out terrible, no-effort sites like moon man, and while there would be less material, the high quality stuff would be of higher quality. I think at this point, with the user base as low as it is, no one would contest a more complicated system because the people who actually contribute good content on a regular basis know their programs. I think concerns of alienation came up when it was had a lot of casual users. Users now are pretty dedicated.

dctownes: username colors play a larger part in the new site. the current system was a hack i added last minute which makes it a lot harder to deal with. there will be a bunch of new colors which will get rewarded retroactively based on analyzation of the massive backlog of stats we keep. sponsorship is one of those stats.

The store does shipping calculation based on where you live, so you shouldn't get charged more than UPS/USPS charges us. It will still probably be a lot.
