To set an example for others to follow?<br /><br />Lately, I've been thinking more about the things I don't like about YTMND (voting system, subpar levels of creativity, shitty "stalking" 2.0 features, garish 2.0 design) than the things I do (great users like LegoLewdite and ryanmontana, 2.0 "background/foreground" stuff). Clearly, there's something wrong with the way things work, but I can't think of how to change these things.<br /><br />I actually thinking about making a site/series of sites on YTMND - not fad comps, but like commentaries on the site itself, shit that I love, shit that annoys me, etc. I'd definitely like to do one on voting, but I need to think about the voting scale again, and what I think constitutes a fair voting scheme. <br /><br />One final thought: I don't repost, I don't revenge-downvote, and I don't wait for favorable times to post sites - and I don't do it because of users like you. I've long admired your stubborn devotion to this site, and your willingness to ruffle feathers (presumably for the greater good if the site). I asked you about the repost only because, with you, it's a question that actually matters. The 15-year-old retards will do stupid shit all the time for equally idiotic reasons. But if stalwarts like Umfuld are gaming the system, well, we're fucked. We're probably fucked fucked anyway. I didn't vote on either site because I didn't like it. It's just a clip from an old Captain America serial, and I guess this is playing off the fact that a new Captain America movie is coming, but it's unfunny. You know there's gonna be an abrupt change in tone after the Marvel logo, and the three Stooges clips add no comedy value, they merely reference comedy. <br /><br />However, the site is competently executed, so I'd probably end up giving this a 3, [i]if[/i] I still used the full voting scale. Lately, I've been only voting 5 on sites that I feel deserve them. If I kinda liked a site, but I didn't feel it was 5-worthy: no vote. If I fucking hated it: no vote. (full disclosure: Your Deniro site would have gotten a 4, your Boy Wonder site would've gotten a 2.)<br /><br />Why am I doing this? I don't fully know. Ultimately, I don't give a fuck about downvotes and e-venging e-tards - just check ChuckMangione's votes if you need proof. I guess I just feel like there's too much bullshit here, and I only feel like rewarding sites that I know I love. I don't really know what the point of giving people a 4 is. Or what the difference between a 1-vote and a 2-vote is. I used to have a scale in my head where every site starts at 3 and moves up or down based on things like humor value, cleverness, technical merit (yes, I reward effort).<br /><br />But what's the point? YTMND has always had VOTE 5 armies and 1-star abusers that end up fucking the system. So what if little old GordonFremen decides to take a stand for fairness and integrity? What am I doing it for? I'm obsessed with high school/college newspapers. They're so far below awful that I can't help but love them. Every poorly thought-out sentence brings me so much joy. It's written by kids imitating a medium so stale, pointless, and poorly thought-out itself, that adding the elements of extreme amateurism and adolescent apathy makes it comically bad. And the variety of subject matter is just amazing; articles about iPods, cafeteria food, and MTV programming are placed side by side with articles about war, the economy, and environmental disaster.<br /><br />Also, my friend, who pretty much has a learning disability when it comes to writing, got on his school newspaper and wrote articles for it without anyone giving a flying shit. That's my other favorite thing about school newspapers: no one, no one, NO ONE reads them. Testing this theory, I made my friend write the most mind-numbingly retarded articles for his paper, including one about Steven Seagal and another about Swine Flu written entirely in the voice of Bill Preston/Ted Logan.<br /><br />Also, this girl I met in college wrote articles that had hidden, vindictive messages to teachers and girls she was pissed off at. The greatest one was an article about how she's totally a virgin who's saving herself for marriage. She actually carried around copies of it and handed it out to anyone who stated or implied that she was a slut.<br /><br />Lastly, I'm also a bit obsessed with prairiedogeric10. I lost track of how many sites I've made about you, and so obviously when you and high school newspapers come together (on what looks to be piece of printer paper that comes folded in half and stapled together), I lol.

I'm with gr33nsc33n. I think it's great that Max is doing something like this, but my internal red flag went up half-way through the sign-up process for some reason. I came back here to read the comments section and see if anyone else shared my suspicion. I would love to involve myself with something like this if I knew it were absolutely legitimate - and, Kiva might be, but I'm not about to take a chance.
