well adding a filter that will delete sites that have no use other then waste space would be great. (like the recent sites of people just exposing themselves to get vote. all i have to say to that is wow your creative) how about we make some way to empower some of the users. i notice this +/- for the comments. i would have to say that only people who actually put something into their posts get + all the stupid posts get - this +/- could be a way of defining how someone would gain power.

prevent 4chan sh*t from being overrated, and reduce the vote disparity between old sites that are good if they are above 3.75 and new sites, which are good if they are above 4.4, and still even less often so. The masses need a voice, but to develop YTMND into a creative Mecca instead of a place to repost funny pics found elsewhere, increased power needs to be given to older, proven, and respected users. Users that want YTMND to succeed instead of blindly upvoting, downvoting, or alt voting.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with gr33n and others who've said ratings and votes shouldn't have such powerful influence over the front page. Ratings aren't important, the individual user should be able to find sites that appeal to his or her taste more easily, without having to use a search function. YTMND needs a mature (and diversely comprised) staff team who will be committed to managing what kind of material ends up on the front page.

What did I miss ? Horse ? I deinitely missed something. I mean, as far as I can tell, and maybe my monitor's contrast is failing me, but it's a horse. That's a YTMND meme ? Given that it's ROY4L, shouldn't the horse be in some ergot-poisoning-induced Breugelesqe fever dream collage ? I'm just plain out of the loop here. Now, if it was a unicorn, that'd be awesome, cause I believe in unicorn power.

Voting is not going away, live with it. A recommendation system isn't a bad idea though, but if you give that power to everyone you'll get the same alt-abuse issues voting has. I still say, get rid of the featured users section, but keep featured users. Then give featured users and ONLY featured users the ability to recommend sites, and replace the featured users section with sites RECOMMENDED by featured users. That way, alt abuse is impossible, and it would allow the featured list to include everyone.

what the ytmnd hints at would be awesome, and very convenient. And finally, please, please, dont give mods far too much power. A powerful mod base will scare away much of the community. I dont visit newgrounds as frequently for this reason [mainly]. I mean comeon, getting my profile muted for saying "Blam this sh*t!", is utter bs. You turn the site into an oligarchy, which will require your watchful eye much more. Sure allow mods to take action, but dont hand it over like most sites do. Thanks.

IMO we should take a page from 4chan and have our mods be unknown to everyone but the ubermods (which we could use a few more of) and have them in charge of NSFW'ing, temp-banning flagrant rule violators, and abusive site deletion. If someone says they got banned for some sh*t reason, and it turns out someone abused the power, the ubermod just drops them off mod duty.

Also, I'm suggesting more of a democracy than a communism. However, as recent history has showed us even those who should be fully capable of making mature responsible decisions will reelect a mentally challenged person. Now just imagine if you put that power into the hands of the average aged YTMND user who has a lot of spite towards other users. Yes I think it's a good idea, but it certainly needs more thought to actually work around here.

the good ones and...well I probably don't have to tell you, since it is one of the more visited sites on the internet, go look at it yourself. Basically, downvoters would have much less power if their votes didn't mean as much in getting a site off the FP in the early stages. Basically, Recently Created should be at least 25 slots and U&C should be around 20-25 too. Likewise, I think moderators ought to be able to pick daily favourites to underdog sites to give them extra exposure.

i like the google way... take all the humans out of the equation. or you could lean to the wikipedia way... only humans. but i dont really like that because there is always going to be someone with power that can be an *ss (im still banned from the ytmndwiki) . i think we should keep our focus on thinking of ways to get the computer to do the work for us. BUT for the hall of fame i think that needs a purely human touch. i think it would be interesting the have a supreme court type deal that deliberates it.

Weighted voting is a bad idea, I think. There are certain groups of scum on ytmnd that like to throw their weight around. Giving them more power to do this is not a good idea. If the alt problem can be solved then weighted voting isn't needed. Veteren accounts can be given other benefits somehow.

Weighted voting is a bad, bad idea. Just refer to all the anger that's stirred up over certain featured users. There are obviously people who DO NOT need any more power. Everyone should have the same voting power.

I do NOT like the idea of weighted voting. Some users would gain more and more power, and one person's opinion could make or break a great site. Voting is fine just the way it is.

Theres no group 10 people or more that would be abusive like that...execpt for maybe featured users with too much power or alts and in theory if everything else worked out the alts would no longer be a problem. Give me an example of a group of 10 or more that could abuse the system like that and i'll rethink my idea.
