The University of Louisville women’s track and field athlete, Synclair Savage, has been named the ACC Women’s Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. The junior from Kennesaw, Georgia, continues to make waves in the world of women’s track and field. Savage broke the Louisville school record in the women’s long jump for the second consecutive meet at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational. She leapt 6.52m (21-4.75) to take first place and beat her previous record of 6.44m (21-1.5) set just two weeks prior at the Cardinal Classic. Her latest mark currently stands fifth nationally and is a testament to her outstanding athleticism. Not only is Savage a record-breaker, but she is also a champion. In 2022, she won the ACC outdoor championship in the women’s long jump, solidifying her place among the best in the conference. In addition to her long jump success, Savage also ran a personal-best time of 7.41 in the 60m dash, finishing in second place. This showcases her versatility and demonstrates her ability to excel in multiple events. The Cardinals will return to competition at the Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana, on February 3-4. It will be exciting to see what other records and achievements Savage can add to her already impressive resume. Fans and spectators can expect to see more from this talented young athlete in the coming weeks and months. Dion Fortune (born Violet Mary Firth, 6 December 1890 – 6 or 8 January 1946) was a British occultist, ceremonial magician, novelist and author. She was a co-founder of the Fraternity of the Inner Light, an occult organisation that promoted philosophies which she claimed had been taught to her by spiritual entities known as the Ascended Masters. A prolific writer, she produced a large number of articles and books on her occult ideas and also authored seven novels, several of which expound occult themes. Fortune was born in Llandudno, Caernarfonshire, North Wales, to a wealthy upper middle-class English family, although little is known of her early life. She began planning for what she believed was a coming post-war Age of Aquarius, although she died of leukemia shortly after the war's end. Fortune is recognised as one of the most significant occultists and ceremonial magicians of the early 20th century. The Fraternity she founded survived her and in later decades spawned a variety of related groups based upon her teachings. Luce is the official mascot of the Catholic Church's 2025 Jubilee. Designed by tokidoki founder Simone Legno, she represents a Catholic pilgrim. She is accompanied by a pet dog named Santino and three friends named Fe, Xin, and Sky. Luce has blue hair and wears a yellow rain jacket, which is coloured in reference to the flag of the Vatican City as well as a symbol for "journeying through life's storms". Simone Legno, Luce's designer, said that he hoped "Luce can represent the sentiments that resonate in the hearts of the younger generations". Luce was unveiled by Archbishop Rino Fisichella of the Dicastery for Evangelization on October 28, 2024, as the official mascot of the 2025 Jubilee. He said that Luce was inspired by the Catholic Church's desire "to live even within the pop culture so beloved by our youth".
