The project was created by Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier, and stars Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault. It is a live-action adaptation of the original animated series, The Powerpuff Girls that aired on Cartoon Network from 1998 to 2005. On May 24, 2021, it was announced that the pilot was going to be re-developed.
