Ahmed Mohamed brought a scary looking clock he "made", displaying it in a metal case he brought with him to English class, which he plugged in and made it start beeping during the lesson. Despite not even making the clock, the whole nation is falling over itself, giving job offers, invitations to the whitehouse, thousands of dollars of free shit from Microsoft, and being a national icon.
